One sim won’t eat?

Hi there this is my first time posting here so my apologies if this is incorrect. One of my sims will not eat and I can’t find a fix for it.  One of my sims won’t/can’t eat. Whether they are called to a meal, try to get a snack out of the refrigerator or trying to eat something from their inventory they will not eat they will just hold the bowl or sit there.  I tried resetting the sim and nothing helped. Even when the sim went to school their hunger bar didn’t go up. (They are a child). I tried closing and restarting the game and it switched to a different child. Everyone else in the family and on the lot is able to eat except that one sim. I’ve tried other families with no issues. I don’t have cc and have the latest origin and sims updates and most updated mods. How can I fix this?
Any help is appreciated!

  • @mizurush Even though your mods are updated, there's always still a chance one of them is causing an issue (even when it seems like they shouldn't affect anything like what you're seeing), so for first steps I always recommend temporarily removing your mods (and deleting the localthumbcache file), then seeing whether the issue still persists when the game is mod-free.

Hi thank you for your help! I tried deleting and removing mods and the cache/thumb files but it is still having the issue. While trying to fix it I noticed bunch of small issues so I’m wondering maybe if there’s something wrong with my game? (For example I’m missing interactions on the social menu, sims won’t do what they’re directed to and have to be reset.)

@mizurush To clarify, did you try in a completely new mod-free game save and are still seeing the issue there? If so, I would recommend you try a game repair (without putting your mods back in) on the EA app, then check again.

If the issue's still happening after that, I'd recommend you try creating a fresh game folder. To do this, drag your whole sims 4 folder over to your desktop (or just rename it). This way all your game data will be safe. Then launch the game so that it creates a new sims 4 folder and check again for the issue. (Make sure you don't try to move any of your old files back into the new sims 4 folder that was just created yet until after you've tested it out.)

@mizurushI just realized after the fact that you mentioned it was only one sim having the issue. That being the case, I'd recommend uploading this household to the gallery so you can access the same sim to drop into a brand new save if and when you try the fresh folder fix, since you won't have access to your library while your current game files are set aside for that part of the testing process.

Hopefully I haven't made these instructions too confusing! Sometimes I think I explain well when I really don't. Please tag me to let me know if you need any clarification 🙂

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help. I tried repairing the games , I tried uploading to the gallery and creating a new game in game and it switched the issue to another child. I tried doing the new folder on desk top and it seemed to work but now I’m having miscellaneous issues (such as snow pals appearing inside unedited, and closed apartments) maybe I should try complete uninstalling the game and re installing and just start fresh too? But I think you solved my initial problem and gave me a bunch of trouble shooting options I can keep trying for this new issue. Thank you so so much 🙂

  • I had this problem with one of my Sims. They went on vacation to Granite Falls, and the daughter (child) wouldn't eat. She'd grab the food and hold it, but wouldn't eat. I tried resetting her and it didn't help. Other Sims in the family could eat, even the same dish that she tried eating, so it wasn't the food. I exited the game and deleted my cache file, and then started it up again. She was able to eat.

Never used mods or CC, and this save is relatively new - started it in early January. The January patch suuuucked though, and I've had so much simulation lag and other bugs since then.
