Parent Sim autonomously performing mean interations to their child

I remember this was a bug about 3ish years ago, and was the reason I stopped playing for a while because it was so infuriating having sims perform mean interactions for no reason.

Right now, I have a parent sim who is active, self assured, and maker (and learned "socially awkward", "family-oriented", and perfectionist). The teen sim has "creative" and "animal enthusiast". The current dynamic between the parent sim and the child sim is "jokesters," and their relationship bar is at full. Randomly, the parent will yell or insult the teen for no apparent reason during conversation. It's bad enough that when the teen had a "mean streak" phase the parent was doing more mean interactions than the teen (the teen would do it once for the parent's 4-5). I manually tell the parent to apologize afterwards, and as soon as that input is done they do a mean interaction again.

I would get it if their relationship was low, but to have a full bar with no negative family dynamic is ridiculous. If it has something to do with the perfectionsit trait, the teen sim graduated high school early, has straight a's in university, and has every character value in green range for the trait so I don't get why that would be a problem. In case it's relevant, the current neighborhood action plans are support the performing arts, rock your body, eco-friendly appliances, water conservation.

I have no custom content or mods currently downloaded. When I quit around 5ish years ago I got rid of all of it and didn't reinstall any of it. If there is a mod that has a fix for this that anyone could reccomend I would really appreciate it. I'm on the latest version too in case that helps.

  • I am so very sorry to hear you are experiencing this misery in your game. I would suggest you log your problem in the Bug category. I have been playing Sims since 2005. It's been my experience that sometimes things get fixed, only to rebreak something that was previously fixed.  It's a little like knitting a row and finding yourself at the end of said row, only to realize you inadvertently dropped a stich along the way. Which means you have to undo several stiches to fix the dropped one.

I do hope my analogy makes sense to you.  EA won't necessarily know we've got a few problems, if we do sing out about them. Best of luck.
