Re: Invisible objects blocking the way

Thank you so much for trying to help me! My gallery ID is the same as my EA login (shellyshai), I've tried repairing my game but nothing has changed, I've uploaded it as "Broken do not download". Just some context, I downloaded the shell of the gallery and decorated it myself (I'm not very good don't judge me!) I do have mods and cc so some of the furnishings might not be there when going into it. I had a different residential rental unit on that lot before this one but I bulldozed it and downloaded this one. Since having this lot I've had a haunting on both properties so I don't know if that's related.

@shellyshai   Thanks for sharing the lot!  I just added the lot to a test save.  No judgements here.  What you've done so far looks very nice!  I do see the problem and I'll be back soon with some steps to resolve it. :-)

EDIT:  First, I noticed there was no fridge, so you'll need to add one in order to cook anything.  Maybe you moved it out while testing?

So the issue is there were some specter jars that were only visible from the second floor view through a window or the rear door.  Initially, I saw two jars.  After I got those two jars out, my test sim still got a routing failure from cooking.  So I checked the oven and found a third jar hidden underneath. So, you will need to move the oven out before doing the next steps to get rid of all the jars.

Go into build mode, move the oven somewhere and add a small arch next to the double doors.  The below image shows the first floor from the second floor view.  I used the Sims 3 camera to get a better angle of the room.  If you're not familiar with it, you can hold down the middle mouse button and drag the mouse to change the vertical angle using the TS3 camera.  The arch I used is the base game Narrow Post and Lintel Frame arch.  You can see that I moved the oven to the outside temporarily so that all three jars are visible through the arch.

Once the arch is in place, you can grab each jar and either sell them or put them in your sims' household inventory, if you want to keep them and place them somewhere else.  After that, just grab the arch and sell it.  Then move the oven back into place.

I added a fridge in the corner where the arch was to test and my sim was able to cook.

Please come back and update if this works for you or not.

  • Hi! Sorry I completely forgot to come back to this post but I tried your method and it worked 🙂 still not sure what caused it in the first place but thanks so much for helping me!

@shellyshai   You're welcome!  I'm so glad you got it working properly!

I'm not sure what would have caused it either.  You mentioned hauntings on the properties.  Do you mean you had paranormal investigations there?  Those jars are usually rewards for completing investigations.  I'm not sure if they can come from ghosts as gifts.  Perhaps they spawned on the lot and glitched somehow?  I haven't seen that happen before but I've definitely seen some weird glitches in the game at times.

  • It wasn’t a proper investigation I think, so in the middle of the night I suddenly got an event called “haunting” or something like that and there was a ghost on the property. My sims had the option to either call the landlord to sort it out or confront the ghost themselves, it happened on both properties on the lot and both times I got them to do it themselves because it seemed faster. A separate time there were spectres on the original lot and I realised that there were some of the haunted objects outside but I got rid of them I think.

As far as I’m aware I didn’t select haunted in the lot traits so not sure why the ghosts were so keen on this place! In the rental house next door was one of my sim’s sister and she’s a paranormal investigator so I don’t know if that affected it at all, or it could just be a random glitch and they got unlucky!

@shellyshai   Thanks for the extra information!  The Residential Rental property comes with several potential events like pet adoption drives and tenant revolts.  One of the events is a haunting but this is not related to the Paranormal stuff pack.  It also isn't tied to any lot traits.  I don't think that would have caused those jars to spawn on the lot.  I don't think it would have been caused by the investigator next door either but I can't say for sure.  Hopefully, that won't happen again but if it does, at least you know how to get rid of them.  Have fun playing!  :-)
