Re: Latest trailer triggering trypophobia

@Ari807

I suffer from trypophobia, can't look at a lotus seed pod or patterned holes without my heart starting to race, but can't say this image had the same effect on me, I didn't even notice it. I doubt the design of this will change and IMHO it shouldn't. It's a watering can (looks like that in RL) and some kind of shaker (also looks like that in RL). There are loads of different phobias, imagine if every single phobia was taken into consideration in promo material and the actual game? We'd have nothing.

    I suffer from the same but like @Ari807 I didnt really notice it until it was pointed out. I think the trailer was so swishy with images it wasnt triggered as a still image is. For me images "glue" in my head and it causes me intense anxiety. The trailer didnt cause the same effect.

    And my eyes went straight to it, first second I saw it 😂 There is not a lot that I do react to, honeycoms, bubblew etc. but that flower both with and without seeds is the one thing that really hits home. And I can not see anything besides that flower. Its the «too large holes» compred to the item itself. On any such items I have had in real life the holes are tiny, these are hugh.

    @Ari807 I don't suffer from this but I get a similar feeling to what you describe with wasps nest, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I was attacked by wasps as a toddler even though I don't remember the incident. 😬 Likewise, I am creeped out by the centers of giant sunflowers ... never understood why but I think they remind me of wasp nests!  On the other hand lotus flowers/or seed heads don't bother me at all. That is why I think it is just the fact that I was attacked by wasps that I feel this way, and not the actual phobia of a bunch of holes.

    I do feel for you though! 🤗  Hopefully that angle won't be common in your game.  I guess just click on your Sims to do these activities and then then switch control to another Sim in the household while the first one is tending the garden! 😊

    @Ari807 I tagged the wrong person. LOL.  Though the picture you submitted, I looked at it for a second and Xed it out quickly before any mental stuff started happening. LOL.  Noped out of there.  I probably may have the camera angle at my Sims back for a long bit when they throw down seeds or water the plants.  LMAO

    @Bluebellflora I love how you placed the Sims 4 main menu on the Sims computer.  That is REALLY cool!!

    @PugLove888 OMG...a wasp nest??  I hope your okay in the long haul!  Those things can get really nasty.  eek....From a far a sunflower could look like the nest as it's almost the same color and texture maybe?

    I think my top phobia is Phonophobia or fear of sudden loud sounds.  It grabbed hold when I was a child, and fireworks are mostly the culprit.  Like you Pug, I don't remember the incident that started the fear but I think the brain blocks it out to 'protect' in a way. Here in the States 4th of July with fireworks is everywhere and its the worst day to get through for me.  Few years ago, I went to my mother to figure out why I am phobic of the sounds fireworks make after I left my sisters house pretty quickly when her neighbors set off fireworks in DAYTIME.. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful...at a far far distance. lol.  My Mom told me when I was a kid my Dad took me to Disney on Ice and I was in the front row.  After all the characters came out and waved, a ring of fireworks/explosives went off that had me sobbing through the whole 40 minutes of the show.  Today, If I can hear the BOOM a distance away, it causes distress starting with heart palpitations. The other symptoms fall in line if I'm in the radius.  Sweaty palms, extreme shaking, paranoia, racing thoughts, and feeling to run away.  I have tried to face the phobia several times, but its no good.

    Last year was the first time in like ever I got to sit and watch a fireworks show at my sisters new house. She buys "safety" fireworks that don't cause extreme loud BOOMs, and they are more like launching flares.   My family has been very supportive through my years as I feel embarrassed after I calm down.  Writing that last paragraph had my heart racing too, sheesh. lol.   The Trypophobia, if I don't expect to see what I'm seeing and there's several holes it causes the same symptoms.  For Ari's pic, I knew what I was seeing so it was a quick second glance, and yeah okay I see what Ari states thing.

    Weird fact:  hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is the fear of long words.  Try having a psychologist diagnose that to someone who is indeed phobic of long words. 🤨
