Re: Should I reinstall The Sims 4, here's the issues im facing....

You should be able to reinstall and keep your saves, but I don’t know how to do that on Xbox, unfortunately, just on a computer.

Some of the things that are general bugs and therefore not likely to be fixed by a reinstall:

-my sims sit down and get right back up 30 seconds later and sit down at another table like during a date or a family dinner, rinse and repeat.

-vet employees don't do their job half the time, I own a vet clinic

-My sims have way too many fears and there are almost never opportunities to speak about them and the same old fears come back, one of my sims has the brave trait and still has this issue.

-Sims go to a bathroom all the way across the house after using the toilet instead of the one already in the bathroom

-I turned everything off in neighborhood stories except for get a career, and people still kept dying of random events and having babies etc.

(this one’s just a maybe, but I’ve seen a few complaints and it does seem there’s a larger issue of gameplay settings not applying correctly right now)

Things I am less familiar with and may be fixed by a reinstall - unless anyone else has a guess what’s happening:

my teen son sim disappears from the bed during the night and reappears just outside the gate of the property and just stands there until given a new command

-If I buy a hamster/rat/hedgehog it never gets hungry, never needs food yet there is no food in the bowl when you zoom in on it.  The option to feed is greyed out and always says animal is not hungry

-sims disappear like when they open the fridge to begin cooking or sometimes at other times and reappear 10 to 15 seconds later, this happens on occasion.

  • @PipMenace Thanks for the Information. Do I have to reinstall the content like expansions and game packs again as well. Thanks for your time.

    Hi, there

I'm not a console player, but I think the "Neighborfood Stories System" works the same way, so I'm only writing about this.
I assume you have NFS unchecked and off in "Game Option>Game Play", but what is the "Manage Households" panel set to?

If you don't have everything turned off and the "Enable Neighborhood Stories" box in the upper right corner of the panel unchecked, as shown in this image, then give it a try.

Be sure to close the panel by clicking on the "check mark" in the lower right corner. Finally, uncheck the "Game Option" checkbox.
Since I started using this way for my games, I have had no issues at all about NFS, so give it a try.

Again, not really sure how it works on Xbox. But on a computer, you can “repair” the game which checks/redownloads game files (base and expansions by default) without overwriting saves, or you can move or rename the Sims folder, uninstall and reinstall (also presumably everything) to start up in a completely fresh setup and check if bugs are gone, then start moving files from the old saves and tray folders in the old sims folder into the new one, to restore saves and library.

@Pick-a-boo_doo Thank you for the info and suggestions. I'm not sure what you mean by NFC, I don't want to turn off Neighborhood stories, I mean it might be about 50 percent broken for me right now, but it does work to an extent. I'm going to do some experimenting and see what happens. Oh, and about how I said I turned everything off except find a career, well that is what I did, and I double checked 90 percent of families to see that it was the only option on...and it was. A day or two later I checked Neiborhood stories via mailbox to see what was going on and I saw a couple deaths and about 2 other things that should have been turned off.... but what I failed to mention was that its possible those events occurred before I turned off everything (except find career). So, I really need to experiment more to see what is working and what is not. It may not be broken in my game at all. I will find out over the next few days. And lastly you say uncheck the game options, well I'm totally lost as to what you mean by that, I don't think that's in options on Xbox I've never seen it. I will take a second look next time I Play but can you elaborate about what that is and what it does? Thanks.
  • @PipMenace Yea man, us console players have no access to such things, basically our troubleshooting boils down to delete the cache that has built up or reset console back to factory condition except keep our games and stuff, and a few other little things. Oh, and I've heard we can have Xbox support or some people not sure who look at our save files and fix and search for any corruption in them and fix them, we can't do that ourselves we have to have other's do it.... I haven't done that yet, but someone mentioned it to me.

    @Thehiddenreturns

    Hi

I am sorry that I did not understand your explanation properly and that it was difficult to understand.
    Let me explain in order.
First of all, "NFS" is a misspelling of "Neighborhood Stories System". Sorry.
Next is the game options. When you start up Sims4, you will see a screen like the one in the image below (This image was taken when there was no saved data). Option should be in the "A" section. Click on it to open the "MENU" panel. Click on "Game Options" in the menu.

This will open the "Game Options" panel. (The panel looks like the image below)

Click on "Game Play" in the menu on the left side, and you will be taken to a screen with Life Span, Wants/Fears settings, etc.
Scroll down and you will find the "Neighborhood Stories" section.
I believe this is also available on the Xbox.
And when I wrote "Finally, uncheck the "Game Option" checkbox." in post #4, I meant this game options section.
I wrote that the order to set up the settings is to set up Neighborhood Stories from Manage Household and then set up Neighborhood Stories in the game options. And this setting off everything is the way to turn off the Neighborhood Stories System completely.
So, I missed the part where you want to set only business to work, so if that is your setting, then you can leave this game options part as the default.
I will write a bit more.

    (pic1)

    (pic2)

I think you are setting up the panel shown in pic2 above, which you can open by clicking on the upper right corner of pic1 above, but sometimes you are left with the settings you had before you changed the settings. For example, if you forget to set up the settings and have advanced the game by a day or two, the settings will remain in each Household as they were before the settings were changed. This can cause them to have babies, adopt children, or do other actions that you don't want them to do.
So, after changing the settings, it may be a hassle, but it is a good idea to check the panel of each Household and change the settings back to the way you want them.
    Sorry for being so long-winded.
I hope this issue alone will be resolved.
