@kmbrackman  For the garden issue, try removing a section of the fence.  The game may count it as a room now.  Leave the gate in place.  Once you've placed the plants again, create a section of fence equal in length to what you removed, then pick up that section and place it in the gap.  This may trick the game into not counting the garden as a room.

I'm not sure why "send everyone home" isn't working, but please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  You don't need to save your progress.
