Re: Whats the Sims 4 Game like without any expansion packs?

You can play the 'base game' without any expansions, which includes a great deal of content and everything you 'need' to play the game. The expansions simply add extra functions and content like additional 'worlds' (towns), additional items (like household items, building items, clothing, and sometimes a career or two). For instance, the 'Seasons' expansion will add the 4 seasons to the game, plus a bunch of items and interactions that make use of the seasons, and even a couple of new careers. Each expansion has it's own features and items it adds to the base game... but nothing that is essential to playing the core game.

What is it like? It's a bit like digitally playing house for adults on steroids. It depends on what you like and if it is your thing. I love it and have a lot of fun building buildings, developing households of Sims, challenging them to excel and advance in their careers and maintain their household well, plus interacting with the community and a lot of different aspects of their world.

@Moonlight_Love12, nobody can tell you which pack is the best for you.  Only you know your likes and dislikes. (That is, unless you have a close friend or family member that really knows you and also plays The Sims 4!) 😉   I've seen players who think a certain pack is by far the best, only to read a few lines down how this is some other players least favorite pack! 🤭😃

I'm trying to remember which careers only came with the base game.  I know there are some career paths with 2 distinct branches that you choose about midway up the career ladder.  Some careers are like Athlete, Writer, Secret Agent, Chef, Computer Tech, Astronaut,  and others.  You can also make money selling art or selling produce from gardening, but that isn't an actual job where you go to work.  All of the base game's careers are "rabbit holes" where you do not go with your Sim to their jobs.  (Some Expansion Packs like Get to Work and Cats & Dogs allow you to follow your Sims to work and help them with their jobs! )
