Re: Which laptop is best to play the sims 4?

@EmmaElizabeth8  In your price range, the best options all come with an Nvidia 1650.  It can run all current Sims 4 packs together on ultra graphisc settings, wtih some room to spare.  Laptops with the next graphics card up (a 1660 ti) start at over £900, and the other GPUs in your price range are all significantly slower than the 1650.  So the question then becomes about storage, plus other details like screen size that may or may not matter to you.

If the only game or other large (in terms of storage) app you plan to install is Sims 4, you'd probably be fine with a 256 GB hard drive.  That would fit the game and all packs, your user data, plus however many small apps like browsers you wanted.  This Lenovo is £700 and would do fine:

If you want more storage, 512 GB is enough for most people:  It would comfortably fit sevaral other large games or a lot of other data.  These two laptops are £750 and have an equivalent processor to the one above.

This Dell has a 512 GB SSD and the same processor as the Lenovo.  It's £800, but some people like Dell products, or at least Dell support.

If you need a lot of storage, for example you're looking to store a large collection of movies or photos or something similar, there are a couple options for £800 with even more storage.  The Acer has a 1 TB solid state drive, and the Lenovo has a 256 GB SSD/1 TB HDD.  The large mechanical drive is much slower than an SSD, but it's perfectly fine for storing data; your apps can be installed on the smaller SSD.

All of these laptops come with 8 GB memory, but all of them support upgrades to 16 or 32 GB.  Except for the Dell, which has 2x4 GB RAM sticks, you could buy a matching 8 GB stick for maybe £40-50 and install it yourself, or spend a bit more to have a computer store do it for you.  While not strictly necessary for Sims 4, you might find that switching apps while multitasking is a bit slow, and extra memory would help.  But that's also something you can do later if you want; you don't have to decide now.

If you have other questions, or want to see other options, please feel free to ask.

@EmmaElizabeth8  Most of the laptops suggested by @puzzlezaddict are pretty good laptops for their price range and got good reviews that I know of. However, do not get the HP gaming laptop. It got really horrid reviews for things like graphics. I recently bought a laptop and like you had a budget as I want to actually eventually buy a desktop when my husband and I get out of the apartment system and have more space. I actually had a budget less than yours so I basically bought a laptop that was just under $600, and is actually not suggested to play games on really. It is great at multitasking, office computer etc...but the sims 4 is such a low grade game it handles the sims 4 with all it's packs, mods and cc on high graphics with no problems. I am sure it would be better with a dedicated graphics card etc and not just say a high end processor, but it works for now. I am also getting bored with The Sims 4 currently so it is nothing I'd lose sleep over and can wait for what I really want...a desktop. I think you could very well find a decent priced laptop to play The Sims 4 and also use for other small projects like you want. Just make sure it has a dedicated graphics card. It's funny though I had a 10 year old laptop with a low processor, no dedicated graphics card etc...and it played The Sims 3, The Sims 4 etc on high graphics for years. My laptop finally died pretty much though after 10 years of very heavy use and I also didn't take the best care of it. Hence why I bought this new laptop I have now. So sometimes I honestly don't understand the arguments of you need all these specifications to handle the sims 4. Most of technology these days is more based on how much money can we make from consumers, than actually what is best. Most appliances and technology equipment have less use than years before. I don't even think my new laptop will see 10 years even though it is a lot more upgraded than my old one. Which is why I didn't throw $1000 or more down on it. You are lucky to buy a toaster now that lasts more than a year. xD But yes any of these suggested by @puzzlezaddict will work for more than you need I think. I would just avoid the HP Pavilion gaming laptop because it got really bad reviews across most platforms you can buy it from. I almost got it myself and was glad I did my research. I kind of regret not saving up a couple more hundred and splurging for the acer nitro 5.

I also looked at this one but was way out of my price range and yours. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-zephyrus-g-15-6-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-max-q-512gb-ssd-metalic-hairline-black/6335912.p?skuId=6335912
