School totally useless?

As far as I observed, kids are forced to go to school for 7 hours a day and don't get any benefits, they are just gone. They don't level up in social skills, fitness, creativity and more. If you manage to not send them to school or call them back whenever someone slipped through, they only get bad marks, but these don't seem to have any effects on their future career. Did I miss something or is this true?

I just got the mod to not send kids to school, so I can have them around, go to the beach where they level up in fitness, have them play instruments or make drawings so they level up in creativity, have them interact with people so they gain charisma and more.

I wonder why the developers implemented a school system which is so useless as they are supposed to learn something but actually they don't.

If I am missing something I gladly stand corrected.

  • They did this so that they can make another pack later on for this exact thing which simmers are speculating is coming next and is wanted as well. I think teenage school life was also an option in one of the community surveys last year, so it may include being able to gain skills while in school and after school activities.

  • I played my current family life with two girls having them never go to school. It is such a different gameplay, for the first time I could really bond with the kids and get to know them. One has just become a young adult, her violin skill is 10 and she plays at lounges I created in island living. The other one is a teen and will become a painter. The whole family spent most of their life at beaches I created with toilets and showers, they swam and befriended with dolphins and had a wonderful life. I bet these two kids will be more successful (if they wish to be) than any other of my sims before.

  • Just like school irl - maybe the devs are secretly pushing us to think about homeschooling? But it'd be so much better if homeschooling were available as an option in-game, and the kids could have some sort of homework to do each day but not waste their childhood away at school.

    @Khrisstyne More to your point of another pack coming out, speculation is FLYING over a amusement park game pack.

    @CWC922  I hope so!

    I use KawaiiStacie's Education System mod that gives them actual skills from going to school. (For example, homework seems to raise writing and logic, but they get random things like cooking and fitness and painting, so I guess they're taking gym, home ec, and art!) I really hope that the high school pack has students gaining skills. (If not, I hope the mod stays compatible!)
