My astronaut career Sim has been wearing a towel dress from the spa day pack instead of their career jumpsuit thing. Hat & shoes are unaffected. This seems to be the only Sim affected but I could be wrong. Additional notes, this is an occult Sim (alien), and they do wear the same towel dress as their everyday outfit in their undisguised form.
Yea this bug is back. Happens now on every single Sim. My Barista Teen wears some randomized outfit to work, and same with my drama club teen. Not sure about what will happen when my barista teen goes to cheerleading practice, but I expect it to be randomized.

No, when I tried editing their career outfit in cas, they were wearing the towel dress as a part of their career outfit instead of what they're supposed to have on. Additionally, I did put in something else already. I will still try changing the everyday outfit of the alien form, in case the bug reocurs after promotion, to see if that affects which incorrect full body item is worn.
So maybe they weren't actually wearing the career outfit but are going to work in everyday ?
Can you change everyday and see if that influences the career ?
No. I don't believe I used cas during the time the bug began. They were wearing the correct outfit at one point when going to work, but then this bug/problem happened. I would fix them manually, but I don't know how to find the item they're supposed to be wearing since it didn't show up when editing career outfit.
did you use the copy outfit option at any point to copy the everyday outfit to others ?
