Sim won't follow command

Okay, so I have recently downloaded CC and I believe it is really messing up the game. I am having many issues, which I will list below:

1- Sims will not look after their toddlers. I set them to bathe, feed or read their toddler to sleep and the action just cancels. This also happens when I ask the toddler to ask it's parents for help.

2- Sims constantly state the path is blocked and they start to wave their arms around. There is never anything in the way.

3- Sims refuse to sleep. I have to try 20 times before a Sim actually sleeps. They usually get into bed, lie there a minute (still awake) before getting up, despite being tired (and this happens regardless to which bed or if it's occupied or not.)

4- Sims also cancel actions, for example mopping the floor. They start and stop after 2 seconds.

I really hope one of you can help me as I want to go back to enjoying this game. Right now it's just an effort.

  • @ellietxrner You are quite right. It is probably a mods/cc issue. Please try the following:

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. Copy the Mods folder from your 'The Sims 4' folder to your desktop (for future reference) then delete the mods folder and the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder and restart the game and so that the game will re-create the folder.
    • Then run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. After that, please see if the issue has stopped.
(If It fixes the situation you can re-add your mods/cc one at a time to see if one was conflicting with the function/causing the glitch - but do not re-add the old config file from the old mods folder, as it is possible for it to have become corrupted also.)

Please let us know the results.

  • So I tried this, and once i added my CC again it was working perfectly! I played for a while and then closed the game, a few hours later going back to play again. Now I have the same issues again.

@ellietxrner Please re-do the all of the steps that I recommended but this time do not re-add the cc or mods and play the game, save and exit several different times and see if the issue re-appears again. Please let us know how it goes.

  • I tried this and now it works perfectly. now we just need to find a way to fix the cc

@ellietxrner Unfortunately both mods and cc can break your game. Sometimes this suddenly happens when there is a game update or patch that is no longer compatible with the cc or mod. When this happens your game can become glitchy/buggy and secondary damages to the game's codes can even occur that will not be removed by just removing the mod/cc. Some mod/cc makers will create and provide a new version that has been modified to be compatible with the new game codes, but many mod/cc makers and users do not maintain this chain of updating/adjusting to keep a once well-functioning mod/cc working properly. On the other hand, there are many of the mods and cc out there that are just glitchy - period. Anyway, this is why I (and many who help here) never use mods or cc. Here we see the damage it can do on a daily basis.

Bottom line, before putting the cc back in the game, since you already have tested and confirmed that it's breaking your game, I would recommend visiting the website of the creator of the cc and seeing if they make any mention of modifying the code per new game patches/updates. I would not try re-adding it at all unless I saw that there was a new version that may have needed changes - and even then I would not recommend giving it a try unless you are positive it was never causing issues originally with your game and packs/expansions (before recent game updates/patches). I would also make a backup of my game before experimenting with this, if I were you.

I am happy that your game is working well now! This makes my day to hear, and I am thankful that I was able to be of some help. Please let us know if you have future issues that you need help with, and thank you for updating us on the results. This means a lot to us helpers here on the forum!
