Sims 4 Is there a way to turn off snapping all together?

I'm trying to place two small photos on my sims' nightstand by her bed. I want them both facing the bed without one blocking the other, and without them snapping in odd places or in each other. I have tried using move objects on and moving the nightstand away to place the photo by itself in the place I want, but for some reason every time I move the photo it just snaps to the nearest wall. So I deleted the wall. Now, when I go to move the photo it goes straight to the floor, it doesn't stay in the air at the same height as other objects. When I move it up it's either too high or low, it won't go to the right height. I am getting extremely annoyed and I want to know if there's a way to take off snapping. I added a video to show the problem in case I wasn't clear.

  • Here's the instructions for Consoles:

Toggle between grid / half grid / free object placing:

This will allow you to place objects outside the grid.

Xbox: Press the left trigger (LT)

    PlayStation: Press L2

I haven't played on PC for a long time but I think you hold the alt key.

@Panda2891 That's great. Also, if you ever use bb.moveobjects on (MOO cheat) we recently figured out another way to help place items when they keep snapping to the wrong place while using it.
So, if you are trying to place something on a chair/sofa for example while using MOO:
🔹Raise the item to the correct height next to the chair by clicking up and down directional buttons until it's floating next to the chair
    🔹 Delete the chair
🔹 Move the item over into position and place it at roughly the correct height of where the chair goes
🔹 Place the chair under it
🔹Use free placement to put the item into position and click up or down to get it to the correct height

    For curtains:
    🔹Delete the window
🔹Place the curtain pole with free placement or half grid snapping
🔹Place the curtains with free placement to line them up with the pole if they don't snap to it
🔹Place the window again with half grid snapping

We found some of this out when I was having problems placing the throw pillows and curtains/poles from the lovely new Modern Luxe Kit and there were a few issues with the Desert Luxe curtains too a while ago. Luckily the players here knew exactly what to do to resolve my issues so now I pass that on to you incase you ever need to know.

I'm trying to get a pillar to click to the mid grid line and clicking LT while doing so. All it does it undo what I did previously. I've tried looking at tuts and asking Google but to no avail. What should I do?

@im_svizzy columns/pillars work differently to other items. On console (I'm on Xbox Series X) they snap to full grid spaces. Just like walls go to full grid and not half grid spaces. Even with free placement on they will only snap to a full grid space unfortunately. So since LT is also the Undo function it will just Undo instead.
