    @crinrict No, I checked that thread and it's not the same issue. I've since managed to check with a Maxis-created restaurant and others downloaded from the gallery and it seems that the lots I had were just poorly made (the kitchen items were overlapping and so they couldn't be used, stopping the whole restaurant process). Seems I pre-emptively made this thread. Sorry for wasting your time! If this could be closed I'd appreciate it.

Hi, I am having this issue, as well. It happens at more than one restaurant, however. What do you mean when you say that the kitchen items were overlapping?

The lots were made with bb.moveobjects on, and the cooking stations were put on top of each other in an L shape. This meant that part of the station was inaccessible to the chef Sims and so the orders never went anywhere. Because there was no room to redesign the kitchen area in the lot I had (it was surrounded by water with one path) I downloaded a different one. I don't know if this helps you at all.
