Thoughts about pet adoption drive?

I was curious what everyone thinks about the pet adoption drive that seems to have started with For Rent (excuse me if this game with an update or other pack, I never noticed it till I got For Rent!). I like the idea of it, but the pet adoption drive started in the middle of the night for my sim and lasted like 12 hours. I wonder if this is by design or not.

If I didn't lock my front door for all pets, the strays would be all over the house. There's an 'assignment' to pet cats/dogs 5 times. For me this completed without my sim ever petting a cat or dog. Even if you give the command to pet, the interaction just doesn't happen, but it counts for the assignment. After the assignment is completed, the adoption drive still doesn't end until the time runs out. I think it's way too long. In the meantime, nearby sims seem to be annoyed by the pets that beg for food.

What are your thoughts? 🐱🐶

I would at least like to have the option to end the event early like every other event. Even when I lock my doors the pets go in my house and make a huge mess.

@crinrict Now that you mention it, after I used "commend tenant" is when it started!

It started in my game without me ever using the commend tenant...
Pets all over my house! Eating my own cat's food. All whining and constantly meowing, they are driving me nuts!
I thought when it first popped up that they would just be outside. That would have been a whole heap better than having them all invade my home. Please fix the madness so they do not come inside!

@elliebreton Can you lock the door to pets? And/or to household only? You’d have to act fast when they appear though, before any have queued going inside, or they’ll ignore the lock on their way in, but then be unable to leave.

the first time it started after I used "commend tenant", but the second time it is started independently !

I've had it happen on its own accord... but the bizarre and stupid thing is my properties have a 'no pets' rule, but adoption drives don't count as a breaking of the rule even though it clearly is..

@IrisuChan I am not a fan that we don’t have the option to end this early. Because having these pets all over the place is craaazy lol

this is probably super mean but i got so tired of them that i ended up cheating them all into my family and deleting them. hopefully this doesnt stay a problem for too long
