@Trismagistos The 11 hours were BEFORE the potion. The other kid and a teenager who witnessed the death only got 11 hours, just the girl who was his daughter got 2 days. The sentiments of the toddlers weren't affected at all. They did get affected as the mother and the other caretaker got mad at them as they were constantly crying.
@Lailantie Aha, now I see. I didn't understand that as explicit as you state it now. Usually the period of grief is twelve hours so that comes in quiet normal. The potion deleted the 12 hours on the kid that witnessed the event. The daughter as you state got the two full days. It is unclear to me if she was positively affected by the use of the potion. It should have at least halved the grief.
I think the crying of the Toddlers can be related to something completely different. From here it is hard to tell what really happend. Could it be that the toddlers did not get enough attention during this period. Did you check their sentiments with the deceased? When this Sim was one of the care givers it could definitely affected the toddlers moods.

@TrismagistosThe potion clears EVERYTHING and fills up all bars, so there is no half or whatever. The toddlers were very sad because of the death, there was nothing else involved. And my point is, they can't drink that potion, plus they got the whole 2 days instead of 11 hours, they didn't even know that guy, they didn't witness his death, they were sleeping.
The toddlers are kids now and still they are very difficult children. One can hardly do her homework as I have to refill her bars and then she's too tired for anything, and her brother is mad with almost everyone in the family.

@Lailantieit is a known fact that whenever a sim dies on a lot (household, bar, park etc) the mood of every sim in that place will be influenced by the event. As I stated in my earlier post, mood influencing objects can push these sad emotions further back so the sad emotions will not have such a strong influence.
As you have experienced with your toddlers. This can be a sim-life changing event.
I never used potions on toddlers so I won't be able to state that they can or can not take them. I thought that adult sims could always give toddler sims food and drinks from their inventory. I know that toddlers themselves can't buy any rewards and that their aspiration points only come available when they age up to kids. But i think that an adult or even a kid can give a toddler something to eat or to drink. The toddler will, most of the time, happily take it. I think the option would have been to let an adult buy this potion and feed it to the toddler.
I hope this option is possible and will prevent such a behavior in the future.
I will gladly test this option in one of my saves.
If or when the behavior and traits of the now teenagers, you play at this moment bothers you or hinders you to play the game, you can always try to cheat these traits away.
Have fun playing. 😉- 5 years ago
@TrismagistosThank you for your reply 🙂 If an adult buys the potion and gives it to the toddler to drink, the toddler can't drink it. Most possibly toddlers can only drink from toddler bottles ☹️

@Lailantie , in addition to what @Trismagistos suggested, do you happen to use any Mods/CC? 🤔 If you don't, are you on a console, or on a PC or Mac. 🤔 Sometimes that could make a difference.
Also, do you happen to have the Nifty Knitting SP and if so do the children who are always tired and irritable have a knitting skill of 3 or more? 🤔. It might be unrelated to your problem, but I have had that happen to a whole household of Sims who had more than 3 in the knitting skill. I haven't used knitting much since then (I was too busy discovering other packs) but I don't remember them mentioning fixing this in any of the patch notes. 🤔😞

I do find it odd that the toddlers reacted more strongly to the deaths than the older Sims that knew the deceased Sim, but I haven't had someone die in a toddler's house in a while. 🤨- 5 years ago
@PugLove888 @EloquentSickness @Trismagistos Thank you all for your replies.
I just wanted to point out that I was upset by the imbalance of how the grief was distributed in this family when that guy died in the living room while the toddlers were sleeping and they were in no way related to that guy.
I understand that everyone in the family gets affected. I just don't understand why the sleeping toddlers would get 2 days, and the others witnessing it got 11 hours.
It was definitely the grief symbol the toddlers had, dark blue with something like a windmill on it, the symbol sims have when they mourn the loss of a loved one. In the beginning there was no sentiment involved.
The sentiments came as a result of the toddlers crying for two days.
I do have nifty knitting, but none of my kids are knitting. They don't have time for something like that. I try to get them an A grade at school so I can age them up as soon as possible (100 babies rules) so they can sooner grow up and leave the household.
I am using mods, but no mods which affect the gameplay in a way that relationships would change or toddlers would get more grief than others.
