I hate to admit it, but Wants and Fears are poorly done. Not only do we not have pack specific Wants and Fears (besides High School Years, of course), but the Wants themselves don't make much sense. We were told during the livestream that the first-slot Want would be a long-term desire, right? Well, since my Sim has pack specific traits only, their long-lasting desire is to listen to their favorite music. Seriously, this is what my Sim wants to do in the long run? Not cool. Next, the sexual orientation feature has just been introduced to The Sims 4 which is amazing. But who would have thought that sexual orientations wouldn't be properly intergrated with the Wants system? Homosexual and homoromantic Sims get Wants to ask Sims they are not attracted to out. It doesn't make any sense, and it should have been filtered out. Please, add Wants for the older packs. Make Wants work smartly. They may still be enjoyable if the care they need is provided.
I honestly think they need to add additional slots for what are now wants and fears. In Sims 2 we had 4 wants and 3 fears which got re rolled after one was fulfilled or after other daily activities. The main problem I see with them trying to bring back this system is that whims were a downsizing of that system that also corresponded to the games moodlets mechanic. Now I never see mood based wants (former whims) and only two slots are active even when entering a moodlet. In all honesty I don't think the new want and fears are finished outside of the new DLC packs. That is a pretty crappy thing to do to all the people that were enjoying the game just fine prior to the update. Now those of use who are still new to the game feel like we are being strong armed in to buying DLC to return functionality broken by an update.
