Buying a pack with planning to use the main feature

Yeah - of course. I bought For Rent with not the slightest interest of the landlord - tennant game play (and I haven't touched it so far). Same with High School Years. Education is fundamentally different in my world, so the way HSY is designed doesn't appeal to me at all. But I never regreted to buy these packs, because I can use the CAS and BB items as well as the lots in the new worlds to develop my unique story line. You should see my version of the lot that once was the auditorium 😉

I bought laundry for one single lightbulb. Moschino I bought for 2windows, never used the career or any of it... MWS only for Tartosa, I never do weddings.. If I ever get For Rent.. it will be for.. well... I dont even know, time will tell. 

I had and have no interest in werewolves, but I bought Moonwood Mills for the world, which looked very interesting.  Honestly,  I would go for Get Famous just for the video-making machine:  almost all of my Sims use it to a minor degree. My politicians use it to create ads,  my bookworms do book review videos, that sort of thing. It's very useful for helping kids practice charisma.

I have made purchases just for objects I liked. I look at it this way, my money, my game. If I don't want something, I don't buy the pack at all. I don't own Occult packs, for instance, and I have stayed away from the Eco pack. It's all about personal taste. I was leaning toward the Goth kit, but I was never a fan, and I am grateful none of my three RL children were either. I browsed the clothing offered, and realized there wasn't anything there I wanted to dress up my future Rock Star in. Oh, well.

Yes. Never a waste of money if I get a fair amount of use out of the stuff I bought it for. Most of the time I do.

• My Wedding Stories- World, CAS, BB. 100%. Weddings however?! Gimme a break. Too much trouble. Like in real life, right?
• Highschool Years - Shaving. I bought it for shaving. I'm a guy. I bought it for growing beards and shaving them off again. My pixel dudes are better at beard care than myself. I've come to like the world and some other features, but the highschool business...I use it sporadically- in fact, I built an entire Creepazoid School (Hogwarts for Creeps) for my occult teenagers, but in all fairness, in its vanilla state it's just too boring for me. Shaving is what I bought it for and you know what? It's worth it. Gargantuan Razors rock. 
• Nifty Knitting- Rockin'Chair & METAL. I've learned to love almost everything about that pack though. Who knew. Perhaps one day I will knit one odd, oddly shaped sock. 
• Tiny Living- CAS, Murphy Bed & Murphy Bed Death. Murphy Bed Ghosts can possess sims and I think that's rather interesting. Never played with the Tiny house system. There's nothing fun about tiny house things in my opinion. I NEED SPACE. 
• Dream Home Decorator- Modular BB, Braided Hairstyle & Utility Kilt.  I always cheat the latter (unfortunately the kilt is not entirely Scottish) into my game since  ➡️ I Never Played as a decorator either. The thought alone exhausts me. I need adventure quests in strange lands. What's going on? 

For Rent is the only pack that I could actually have fully used the main feature in my game but because of the bugs I haven't used it yet.  I don't know if or when they are going to fix it, but apart from the apartments issue, the EP can be fully used. The world and BB catalogue are nice, you can use the heaters in regular houses, you can spy on  your neighbours in regular houses, you can collect and play marbles, etc. To me it looks like very little that cannot be used, everything else can be used. 

I've done that a few times. On a 50% sale I don't really mind as long as there are other features or a world that I can make use of. I got High School Years but never really followed a teen to school. I like the world (small but with good lots and a back story), and there's plenty of good CAS and BB. I have no plans of checking out the school feature quite yet if ever. 

With For Rent it's a different cup of tea... I got it on release, but have not yet used the main feature - of obvious reasons. I like the world, but it is not enough to justify the purchase at full price.

When it comes to Lovestruck, I'm  not focusing enough on romance in my game to justify a full cost EP with this theme, besides I prefer controlling who my sims end up with. The world looks good, but the pack has too little outside the theme for me to grab it at release. I might get it a t 50% later. Happy for all who want the romance improved, and it actually looks well thought out, but I know I will not pay much attention to those details in my game, anyway. Besides - leaving town the couple days before release and will stay away from my game for a few weeks to come... Perhaps my opinion has changed when I return :)

I've done it several times. Vampire and Werewolves I bought because of CAS/BB though I probably will use them eventually in some future game add them (I do have an idea of an post apocalypse game where everyone but my sim is either a vampire or a werewolf). 

Journey to Batuu I bought exclusively for the CAS/BB without any intention of ever playing on Batuu. I don't regret it for a second. 

Get to work I bought because I wanted to stores for my sim to visit, not because I wanted to run them. Same for Dine out. I have yet to play full out the Eco Living, though I do use some features in my game and intend to at some point to make full use of the world and gameplay. 

In general, if I buy the pack on sale, and I really enjoy some features of the pack, it doesn't really matter to me if I use all of the features. So far the only pack I regret buying is My Wedding Stories. 

The main feature of for rent is bugged. I play without mods on a nice desk top computer, specs above necessary, and residential rentals broke my game. If you buy for rent I highly suggest not using the main feature.

That being said, if you can get it on sale and like other parts of the pack I see no reason not to buy it. I still enjoy using the other elements of the pack. I use the kettle a lot.

Bought Outdoor Retreat mainly for the items I could use in my Rags to Riches play, so much easier for both the sim and player when they can sleep in a tent instead napping on benches.  Tried the game play a couple of times and found it more tedious than fun.
