So my sim planted the bizarre fruit from the curio shop, evolved it to perfect quality, and after nurturing it got, you guessed it, a normal quality bizarre fruit. I feel like because of the different mechanism for bizarre plant and other plants to bear harvestables this might as well be designed by producers, yet it just makes leveling bizarre plant meaningless as normal bizarre fruit doesn’t worth much and the plant itself has zero value.I hope it’s just a bug of my own game......

Seems like harvestables spawning rates for spliced plants are based on their rarities. I am lucky enough to get a 50-ish reserve of perfect cow plant berries before the patch and I think I’ve only got one or two after the patch.Thx now you give me the idea. I’ll try to splice bizarre plant onto my other perfect plant and see what will happen (tho for the reason above, the rare bizarre fruit may take forever to spawn...... But better to try than not I guess :neutral: )

Thanks - it's a good thing they can't get infected from cooking, since we don't have any control over which fruit in their inventories and refrigerator that they will use for certain dishes. I'm still annoyed with the Sim who decided that a 'normal' cow berry (the only one the family had at the time) would make good yoghurt parfait. She had perfect strawberries, but no, she uses the cow berry. (Even the toddler thought it was 'yucky'.)

If i want cowplant berries i normally go to sylvan glade and fish , I have collected loads that way I hate though that i can make plasmafruit meals in my vampires family but they always make my vampires throw up ( why when plasmafruit is what they eat ) .

Can’t get perfect bizarre fruit. By design or a bug?

As Airakale states, it's not necessary, but I'd had no luck with my bizarre plant in Newcrest, so my Sim was camping in Strangerville at the time. (And also raising a toddler. I had weather effects turned off, since they were living al fresco, but I think my blossoming bizarre plant was phoning home to the mother plant. Things were starting to get mighty strange by the time I got my perfect fruit: lots of thunderstorms and even snow. My Sims were stuck in their tent for entire days.)

Thank you @Airakale and @invisiblgirl for your replies! I figured it out on my own though by just trying it out. I sent my Sim to StrangerVille with camping gear one late morning. By early afternoon he'd collected half the items needed to get a keycard at the lab. He also visited George Cahill and picked up more evidence there. Jerrad also took a shower while visiting and made them both dinner. I figured it was the least he could do for George since he'd just barged in on him. At least they're good friends now. The Always Welcome reward trait sure came in handy! :)

He didn't spend the night there though. He put down a tent next to the trailer park lot to get some shut-eye that night and went back to the lab the next morning. Evidence regenerates every day as long as the lab door hasn't been opened, so he found enough additional evidence for a dossier. Bought the keycard from Erwin at his curio stall, went back to the lab, opened the door, got a cutting from a plant and had it grafted and growing on a perfect Daisy plant back home in Brindleton Bay by late afternoon. He now has Perfect Bizarre fruit! Yay! \o/

For Jerrad, it only took a little over a day to get the cutting. I was surprised, I thought it would take much longer. It definitely helped he doesn't have any family to look after yet. I can see how it would take longer with a toddler to take care of and bad weather too. I got lucky with the weather as well, it was a heatwave. It also helped the lab has a bathroom (which he used, very handy) and a kitchen. Had thoughts of just having him camp there, but decided against it. Anyway, I'm happy. Jerrad is well on his way to having a perfect garden with one of every plant and/or seed available in the game! <3

Oh dear - this would be a problem, since I'm trying to collect a 'perfect' sample of every harvestable! (I'm having no luck with my spliced snapdragon-dragonfruit. It produced one harvest of dragonfruits, and since then, just snapdragons. Bloody snapdragons. I'm starting to hate snapdragons. Not one cow berry.)

I know the trash plant produces a variety of quality, even when it's 'perfect'. But this sounds more like a bug?

Wonderful! If you mess with those strange plants, do you risk getting your Sims infected with, well, whatever it is that's infecting them? Or, do they have to eat them to get infected? (I don't want to play with the story at the moment.)

Yeah, well appearently children are immune to the effects of the fruit so you can feed the children all the biazair fruit you want. I wish you could infect sims by cooking it in some unknow food, but that is just me I love adding a little casos in my game play. Also another thing when opening the biazair fruit it does release a cloud of tiny pink sporns so if you arre harvesting more than one its possible they will infect you temperarly, but not permentantly. Also you can harvest biazair fruit a lot faster if you live in Strangervillie because the story enhances its abilities.

We've made it to magnificent, but still no fruit. I moved them outside (they were in the greenhouse) to see if that would help. I also can't graft to or from them.

I finally used the shift-click cheat to get my plant to blossom, but the fruit is, as the OP experienced, 'normal' quality, even though the plant is 'perfect'. My Sims are currently living in a temporary camp in Strangerville. I planted a perfect growfruit, so I'm hoping that I can get a splice to graft to the bizarre fruit and get my perfect produce.

(I also have the option to 'nurture' my bizarre fruit plant - what does this do? Should my Sim be wearing a hazmat suit when dealing with this plant?)
