Yeah. I thought toddlers were a lost cause, and I was very glad to be proven wrong. I'm still hoping for the return of a base game staple like cops and robbers or cars (which, okay, were only basic in Sims 3, but at this point they should be). Better late than never at this point.
I actually cant stand toddlers -.- my sims have this constant obsession with picking them up and putting them down. Its. So. Frustrating.
As much as I adore them in this game agree I find sims pretty annoying doing stuff like that.
I click on them to first pick up the toddler to then place in highchair,only for them to first put them back on the floor and just stand there for 30 seconds before they just ignore them completely until I make them do it again. Very frustrating...

I have to disagree with you that The Sims was purchased by very young girls. Will Wright and others have spoken about this, and they did want to market to young teen boys hoping to draw them into simulation games rather than the console games most young teen males at the time were playing.
But they found out it was grown women who were playing The Sims and not young teen girls and or teen boys, the majority of their customers (due to their own internal studies) showed it was women over 20+ and mainly middle aged. So, in the 2001 a middle aged woman would be around 40 considering the life span at that time. Young teen males were never the majority playing their games and neither were younger females.

I'm sure there are exceptions as evidenced by some younger forum members here but the majority probably don't invest the time that most forum members do. They buy the latest pack, play a while, and then they're back to their mobile games until the next pack releases. Those experienced long time simmers longing for the glory of past games had better face the reality that those days may be gone. And I fear those pinning their hopes on a Sims 5 are going to be sorely disappointed. I agree. The problem is that if EA targeted the game at the simmers who played the earlier games but grew up then sales numbers could only go down and the expenses could only go up because those simmers usually wants the game to just become bigger and better all the time and such a game wouldn’t appeal very much to the new generations.
But I don’t believe at all that we have to fear for TS5 not being made for two reasons:
1. EA’s income and profit from selling expansions is so huge that I don’t at all believe that EA could accept this to stop just now.
2. If EA just go on making expansions for TS4 then sales numbers for the expansions will become lower and lower because more and more simmers will stop playing while new simmers won’t be exited by new released full priced expansions but mainly just buy a few of the older discounted expansions instead. EA surely won’t allow this to happen and therefore just release the next basegame to avoid it - and most likely after 5 years just like EA usually always has done.- Not going to read the entire topic so if it’s adressed I apologize, but...

I don't know. I think they learned from the TS4 Olympas Online that people didn't want it so they had to make it single player. I think that Sims 5 will be created as a single player mode game. - DomainGoat90New Spectator

Yeah so kind and generous of them. They really deserve a medal for that.
Pools, Toddlers, Family Trees and Ghost were all part of base games in the past.
The Genderless outfit stuff is nice, just for the sake of diversity and inclusion, but nothing to really make such a big deal about imo. - So, I’ll admit I stopped reading after all the things they gave away, toddlers, pools (because of happy new year and champagne and stuff), but now I read on and... is this really an interview with someone connected to the franchise and EA? Because...
Typically, on Sims 3 we used to do one expansion per year and then did a couple of stuff packs. Now we are doing three or four stuff packs a year, one or two game packs and we have been doing one expansion per year, in addition to the free updates. We had to fundamentally reorganise our team around that idea.
Now, I’m terrible at mathematics, but 11 EP’s in 4 years....

It's not the first time previous sims games have been thrown under the bus to make the sims 4 look good. During the pets livestream it was all "sims 4 pets is way better" "cap is sooo much easier and way better than the sims 3. (It isn't. Wait unless stamps and outfits are your thing)
It's a sad day when to advertise the latest product you put down the old one.
As for the number of EPs the sims 3 has, I don't believe it was a slip of the tongue. More like hoping nobody would notice. - @rudy8292 Missed your post (was typing while you posted), lol, yeah, we’re kidding about it but I must admit if anything it actually makes me angry. Leaving essential things out and then acting like simmers should be greatful? I realize not everything in predecessors is automatically in a successor, I don’t even expect that, but toddlers, pools, ghosts, family tree? And then selling it as a generous gesture those things were added later and for free? I even think that’s kind of rude.
@MidnightAura Yes, by Grant and also by Rachel Franklin. It’s just not professional. You can say “we’ve tried to improve this”, but you’re just not going to downplay your previous work. It’s beyond me why anyone in any business would consider that a good idea. I know I’d really get in trouble at work if I’d do something like that and I work in a non profit organisation. And above all, it’s so not true that it makes things even sadder. Hoping nobody would notice, lol, yeah, well, you won’t get away with that with us hardcore casual players :p Maybe the ‘real gamers’ will buy it.
