- i can do 8, as long as there aren't more than two toddlers. they made toddlers too realistic this go around, lol. constant terrible twos.
- Unless you are playing a family using the club programming - having a big family is more aggravating than enjoyable. The thing is I don't care much for families done as clubs so now a days even though I was always a big family player - I get no enjoyment out of it in Sims 4 - My households in my present save are lucky to get 2 or 3 Sims - to keep the game enjoyable and not a chore... If the household is made up with parents and 3 kids of various ages - then it is okay thanks in part to parenthood pack - but the minute those kid age to ya they have to move out - it becomes a chore trying to allow 5 adults be their own person in this game - believe me. So 5 is my absolute limit in Sims 4.
Keep in mind I prefer 7-8 sims. So when I get to missing big families - I have to just go back to play Sims 3, as technically that is the only Sims game that did big households right. - I like about five sims. More than that and it can be difficult, but not too terrible.
- Busufu7 years agoSeasoned AceWow, you guys are good! With more than 3 Sims I am totally overwhelmed :D. Not to mention the pets.
- bshag4lv7 years agoSeasoned AceActually 4 is really stretching it. There was a baby boom in my games awhile back, everyone who got preggers had multiples, which led to me pulling my hair out on various occasions...especially the household with 2 adults and triplets! Then there was the household with 2 adults and 2 sets of twins. I almost gave up on family rotations, but I deleted the families with over 4 in the house. I just can't cope, lol. :#

For me the secret in handling (wrangling) this many Sims is to have them all at full autonomy. Then I can focus on the ones I need to focus on the most. Also, use the pause button, it is your friend! Queue up actions for those who won't or aren't doing what they should be doing, homework, work tasks, laundry, et al, and then un-pause. I'm never happier than when the lot is bulging with Sims. I also have walked down the dark path to using the Make Happy Cheat more often than I care to admit. The Sims' needs just decline so very rapidly in this game, it's almost a joke. And, yes, I do have a mod or two or three. ;)
Exactly what @GalacticGal said! Although I prefer to keep my households to 4-5 Sims lately. - I think five at the most. It's about my preferred family size too, which is perfect. I could get a full 8 and be largely fine in Sims 2 and 3, but it's a nightmare for me in Sims 4. I have autonomy on, but sometimes it doesn't even feel like it's doing anything. Or maybe I'm just a horrible micromanager.
- OEII10017 years agoSeasoned AceSix is the absolute upper limit for what I feel is manageable, and even then it is only manageable, not enjoyable. At that point I am simply juggling needs and career or aspiration requirements. Three or four seems to be what provides me with the best balance of satisfaction and management.
- wildirishbanshee7 years agoSeasoned AceI can handle eight fairly well, or even more on occasion. But it did take me a fair bit to get used to playing more than one sim - when I first started playing S4, one sim was a challenge! No one died, but they sure weren't happy - and I've been playing since S1 lol.

Depends on the ages. The biggest games I have ever had included;
Mum and Dad (Adults)
Twin boy and girl(young adults) Athlete, Painter
Teenage boy Musician
Boy (Child) Gamer
Another boy(Toddler) Not sure yet.
I started the game with just the mum and she got married and had 5 kids.
My largest family was my most recent save -- Cali West married Liam O'Dourke, they had their daughter Selena. Cali had a rough pregnancy so for their second child they adopted a baby boy, Edgar. When Edgar aged to child they adopted another boy, Sumit, to keep Edgar company. Then Selena turned YA, got a bit frisky with Father Winter and had twin boys, Nicky and Kris. And add to that the family cat, Fiona, and you've got the full 8. I moved Edgar and Sumit out on their own when they aged up to YA. That brought it down to 6, then Selena married Michaela Munch, her childhood friend. I've now got the family in three separate houses: my founders, Cali and Liam (and Fiona) who are elders in Oasis Springs, Selena and Michaela who are in Newcrest with their teen son Nicky and their toddler daughter Kayley (created in CAS using the genetics system), and Nicky's twin Kris dropped out of high school and lives across the road from his grandparents, working on his music and keeping an eye on the older folks now and then. He also has a dog, a Bernese Mountain Dog named Gracie (named for a friend of mine's Bernese). After Cali and Liam die I'll probably have Kris move to a small house in Windenburg where the weather will be more suitable for Gracie. I've also converted the Narwhal Arms to a lounge so he can enter the Entertainer career and perform there as well as my other lounges (I have a lounge/bowling alley in San Myshuno, and I converted the Blue Velvet to fit on a 20x20 lot to put in Magnolia Promenade which is my entertainment district).
