I played with them on release around the challenge time.. then later I tried a story around one. You use to have to cheat for awhile to do it.. and that basically stopped me from trying them out again. Now you can become a plantsim if you jump through a few hoops .. have a sim reach level ten gardening to buy the rare seeds and buy the stump, grow the magic tree.. then proceed. I might try it again soon, the addition of spellcasters has made me way more interested in playing out a fantasy world now.
They could use a revamp or some more magical way to start out that's not wholly dependent on knowing how to do it.
Ohh... if you go about it this way. Do they stay permanent plantsim or is it still the three-day-stint. It is the temporal aspect that drives me away mainly. I play rotational and it is irritating to run into your occult sim who has turned muggle again.
I don't know I never played them in rotation, but I just now went through getting the stump.. the beans.. making the tree and getting the fruit. I'll be finding out soon since I'm playing in a rotational save now. I thought it was 5 days though. I'll report back unless someone else knows for sure soon enough (and will also report back if I find out otherwise because I'm obstinate that way :D ) "Hermitgirl;c-17262516" wrote:

This is the way I did it and they turned back. I think it was 5 days."Stutum;c-17262155" wrote:
Never heard of them, so never.
They are a life stage if you are lvl 10 gardening and collect all the beans and go into a tree and eat the fruit inside it or something like that. You become a plant sim for a sim work week and then your sim needs things like water and sun instead of food and sleep. If they don't get water they pass out until another sim comes and waters them lol"Stutum;c-17262645" wrote:

Ah, sounds like a lot of hassle to play a sim who sounds like more work than fun. xD Thanks for the info. ^^
Yw :). Lol oh and You can cheat to become one without the steps haha. And if you don't cheat once the tree is grown i believe any sim can use it or you can give them the fruit or whatever. You only need to do all the steps once, not per sim.- The fact that they're temporary is what kills it for me. I know there's mods to make it permanent, but with it lacking anything really unique that they could've/should've definitely had...
Back in Sims 3, I had a PlantSim that ended up marrying my Witch Sim and they were probably my favorite couple out of every single story and family I made. - Tried to use them, but like others have mentioned they are pretty useless.
Pros:
Being green
Cons:
Just a normal sim but with a thirst meter and a different diet preference
Not even gonna mention how annoying it is to become one, but hey atleast they ain't pee drinkers like in Sims 3. - MDianaSimsSeasoned HotshotI've only played a ts4 plantsim once. But I do have a family of green sims who love to garden and I view them as plantsim descendants. I may make them actual plantsims once they have a forbidden fruit tree in their garden. But it is annoying that it's not a permanent life state.
And it's also super annoying that kids and toddlers can't have green hair. - Honestly wish they were a permanent life stage and more like the Sims 2 ones that were a lot more fun to play with. I love my Sims 2 sprout toddlers I would grow by planting. I played with them a few times but gets sad when they turn back to normal.
- RememberJoySeasoned NoviceI have a plantsim in one of main saves that I've played for awhile now. I modded him to remain a plantsim and have customizable hair. I'm actually surprised the amount of detail they added to such a temporary lifestate.
They require sunlight to fill their hunger bars, and with seasons, they won't get it on cloudy days. On days like these they can still fill their hunger by absorbing the solar energy from havestable plants. This will set back the growth of the plant, but not the quality.
They also require water like mermaids instead of having a bladder function. Anything that will hydrate a mermaid will also hydrate a plantsim. I believe they also acquire the gardening skill faster, but I'm not 100% sure about this.
I'd love to see an update to this overlooked lifestate. At least to make them permanent and give them their own clothing and hairstyles. But maybe also give them some more unique gardening abilities like instantly maturing a plant at the price of their hunger bars going down or something like that.
