Is For Rent safe to play if I don't play on a rental lot?

I have for rent installed. I play tiny houses and don't play in the new world. I haven't had any save corruption and I think the bugs happened to me in playing rental lots and living in the new world.

I do use the nosy and cringe traits, break ins, and discover secrets. I don't get any bugs in my game. And sense I turned on fame my spell caster is working fine. ( I also use the water heater, air conditioner, and grill heater, with no problems. )

If I feel like experiencing the rental disasters, I use the gremlins and the mold lot challenges which can be used on a tiny lot. Granted I do turn them off after one disaster because otherwise it happens every night. So I turn those lot challenges off and on in my game.

I have the rental events turned on in my game's settings but I don't play as a tenant or be a landlord.

Note: If playing a residential lot, the maintenance troubles lot challenge is only text based, and while it's happening you can't go into build mode, plus you have to wait 24 in game hours before the event ends (then) you get a text saying it fixed itself. You only get the visuals like the stove exploding on a rental residential lot while playing as a tenant or landlord.

I have played several households, including organizing/playing on most residential lots in Tomarang. I had no trouble or corruption yet.

I have only a few rental units (don't play them a lot), and focused very little on the landlord options.
My understanding (I do not know for sure!) is that the corruption will be avoided if:

* having less than 18(?) rental units in your save.
* avoid cheats making it possible to have more than 6 units per lot, or more than 99 units per save.
* never change a "rental residential" back to any other lot category. This means, compplete the build 100% before even assigning the units.

If not using the "rental residential" category at all, I assume you would be safe. It's a good idea to back up your save regularly, though.

Hopefully EA will address most of the problem with the coming patch.

I started a new save with my simself as a single college girl. I do have FR installed and I chanced placing down one single rental residential with 3 units. I placed the sims from manage world and have never gone back to the lot. So far, I'm not having any issues, but I do a "save as" at the end of every game session to be safe. Oh I've been playing this save for about 8 sim weeks now. So far so good.

I was playing a practice save for a little over a month, but got tired of playing it. I would suggest not placing any residential rentals on a lot till they fix being able to change them back to another lot type. There is suppose to be a patch coming to fix it this week.

Playing on console, so no mods or cc.
I have played a few res rentals, one in tomarang too and so far did not have any gamebreaking bugs, no corruption of any savefiles, thankfully.

Yes, do play your game! I’ve been avoiding rental lots and tenant/landlord gameplay for now, but I don’t know whether I actually need to or not as I haven’t experienced any bugs myself. I’m just being cautious. But the rest of my game seems to be fine. I’ve visited Tomarang, used plenty of the great stuff from the BB and CAS, used the mould lot challenge, and all with no apparent problems. But do make sure you back up your game just in case.

I play on PC, but I use no mods and no CC. I downloaded a residential rental, but was not able to change the lot back to regular residential. Luckily, I was not using my main save, I was using a practice save.

Sooooo, as long as you don't play it the way EA\Maxis intended it is pretty stable?

Well, it is new real estate and seems to be nice scenery.
I might just give it a go with an older save file.

I have two saves where I am playing in a rental lot with either 5 or 6 households (as tenants) and until now, the only bugs are the annoying phone quests all the time when I start playing a household and when I enter a new lot, and the other bug is that the tenants are cooking too much and leave their stuff everywhere which is quite hard when your main character has the neat trait... but aside from that nothing bad has happened and I really hope that won't change.
I don't send them to Tomarang, though because there is nothing really to see (in my opinion). I checked it out once and that's it. But yes, i do have other rental lots in those two saves as well with Sims I barely play, so I think I might have up to ten or twelve rental units per save.
If it interests you; I am not playing with any mods but some CC (self made and downloaded).

I faced the save corruption twice at the beginning and I had to rebuild from a before for rent save twice. I only have 13 residential rentals currently, and that seems to me key in my game, as when I tried to make another block of townhouse was the last time the bug kicked in.
Everything has been pretty ok. I don't play the residential rental much, just in case, waiting for the fix, but I do go in and check up on the families fix the houses and maybe play a little. Not wanting to test it too much as those builds and getting the families in was a very time consuming and I don't want to do it a third time. Holdign off for the save update and when everything is clear.
I was avoiding Tomarang for a while, and all the houses there are plain residential. I played exclusively in Tomarang last weekend, and pretty much everything seemed ok with the exception of a few crashes for no reason, a couple of lost of control of ui , (better execptions found the culprit was a mod by mapbell-more kisses), and the one scary bug I was afraid of, one house - the most north on the map of the island on the east, when visiting I could not knock on door.

only option I had was move in household from gallery & I tried many times. There is a family that lives there &Playing that house works find. It's a regular residential lot I found off the gallery, with lots of downloads and likes, and it dated prior to the release of For Rent, so I don't think the lot is the issue.

I checked my maps and they all seemed ok and not corrupting, paying most attention to the main street area of Willow Creek. While that issue has occurred prior to For Rent, with lot, the pool in Windenberg. I had the same issue with the pool in Windenberg this weekend as well. I just replaced the lot with another lot I wanted to used temporarily but I want to see what is going on with that pool lot as I put a lot of effort renovating it.

It's safe to play, but always back up your saves, and monitor you game and maps. Save corruption has happened to others before For Rent, and the help specialist say they are not responsible and you must back up your saves for your own insurance.

Since this I have been trying to play in a more productive way, where as is any save corruption should occur I am somehow backed up. Like playing to complete renovations and putting them on my tray file, aka private gallery. Even toyed with the idea of backing all my creations on the public gallery, as tray corruption is possible too. So you want to back that up. My folder is pretty big. Also the story developments, screenshots folder could be backed up too. Back up on you computer and externally whether a hard device or in cloud somewhere.
