Is there a cheat to bring a ghost back to life?

Unless your sim is max skilled in both cooking and gourmet cooking then you cannot make ambrosia even if you did have the ingredients. Writing the Book of Life means you have to have completed the writing aspiration first, and grafting to get a death flower requires minimum level 7 gardening skill.

Then on top of that you cannot get your ghost to eat the ambrosia unless they are part of your household, and its unbelievably difficult to get them to rejoin the household!

And all this before 3.30am Thursday am when you dead sim gets culled anyway......... although there is a mod that fixes that

At the moment based on my current experience, The Book of Life is not working at all... or some have reported that it only brought back a ghost. I have yet to get any confirmation of anyone successfully using the Book of Life since Oct. 1st update.

The book of Life is not a cheat.
Apart from that, the thread title prevents me to test, try, share, pics, etc more. Sorry.

The Book of Life works perfectly, the expectation of it is incorrect.

The book of life fulfills the following functions
1. Maxes out needs for the sim it is written for each time it is read
2. Summons the ghost of the sim once dead

Once you summon the ghost then you can attempt to increase your relationship with the ghost in order for it to join your household (difficult task) THEN you can make ambrosia to get the ghost sim back to life

Really ambrosia is not that hard to do. Why don't you want them to just be a ghost? they already lost their job and relationships. The ghost are pretty fun. You can still get married etc, just can't have babies yet with them

That is incorrect litabelaqua. Prior to the Oct 1 patch, the Book of Life worked as it was described. It brings back the dead Sim you wrote about. Based on my past experiences I generated multiple Books of life for various Sims ranging from Y.A. to Elder and killed them all after writing about them first. Upon their deaths I was able to use the option to "Summon" them back, which they did come back as a full Sim (not as a ghost) from the point in which they were written in their perspective Book Of life.

Since the Oct. 1st update, every Book of Life I have written does not allow me to "Summon" the dead Sim (as in no ghost form or complete Sim form).

The whole idea of completing that writing aspiration was to be able to bring back a dead Sim you wrote about. This was the purpose intended even before the new updates from Oct. 1st.

@Kobi_Meister prior to the 1st oct update we did not have ghosts, so if you had the summon option on the book then of course it would bring back a living sim.

I believe the Book Of Life should not have been available to us prior to the ghost patch OR the function was changed at the point of introducing ghosts. It does sound as if this is the case if Books you wrote before the patch no longer work. I have a number of Books of Life and they will all summon the ghost of a sim, but all my books were written since the update.

So prior to the ghost patch, Book of Life was working correctly for that game at that point in time, in that you could summon a dead sim with it who would be returned as a living sim.

Since the patch and the introduction of ghosts, Book of Life now performs in the manner in which it was supposed to by summoning ghosts, not living sims. Bringing the sim back to life is what Ambrosia is for.

There are a lot of steps to even be able to get to the point of making Ambrosia so to the casual Sim player this is not an easy task to get to. It requires:
* Level 10 Gourmet Cooking
* Level 8-10 Fishing and the the secret fishing pond to try and catch the Angelfish
* Completing the rock collection (which requires dozens of space launches w/ successful missions) which then provides you the "Orchid" you need to cross breed with Pomegranate in order to get the death flower.
* Cross breeding Apple and Cherry tree to create Pomegranate

Plus while I can appreciate those that enjoy the "ghosts"... for me personally, I HATE the ghosts and so want my ability to bring back a dead Sim my own legitimate way via The Book of Life (which is broken right now).

Also keep in mind that Ambrosia that does successfully restore a dead sim to full corporeal form (and not ghost form) returns only as an Elder once again so it does not give the same benefits whatsoever as The Book of Life that restores the Sim from when you first wrote them in the book.

Then I'm not sure what to really believe and am more confused right now. I'm literally looking at the Bestselling Author aspiration that states the following:
"Poetic Sims can capture life itself in a book, and wield it to bring back someone they've lost."

Special attention at "capture life itself" as it means bring back that Sim and not their ghost form (as ghost form is not life, it's after-life). I was confident that this was working as intended based on my experiences prior to the update. It's an aspiration from the Creativity branch for heavens sakes. I will have to start a new side game and re-test in case my current game is corrupt.
