Honestly, all I'd want to see from favorite color is having an impact on clothing that is assigned randomly, like ski boots or Bike helmets - such as a sim who doesn't like pink won't randomly get the pink helmet, but one who does like pink will get it more often (or even always). (I know there are mods out there that let you choose one, but I'm trying to cut down on the number of mods I have.)
I wouldn't mind if they got a slight increase to moodlets if the color of a room matched (or decreased in the case of a specifically disliked color) but I don't think it really impacts people that much in real life either. For example, I don't like pink. I don't hate it, but if I have a non-pink option for a particular item, I will choose that one, even if it's another color I don't particularly like, such as Olive green. But if my only option is pink, it doesn't really impact me. Heck, our kitchen came in Pink thanks to the previous owner, and while I've planned to redo it for years, I still enjoy cooking and baking in there.
Now if preferences were on a number scale, then I could see more argument for having color have more impact on a sim's daily life.
Yes, maybe if the Sim had moodlets that was low impact and short lived it could work, or like you said, if they showed some form of preference in autonomous choices. - GalacticGal5 years agoLegendI always wanted a reaction since Sims3 when we could for the first time choose a favorite color. Sadly, this was never the case. I used this information when decorating their bedroom, and would carry the theme throughout the house. No happy moodlet, would be nice, though. And it would go a long way toward that depth of play and immersion we're all wanting.
- On the other hand a room, let alone house, all in the same color would be overkill. For example my favorite color is the bright green that is this website's background color. I wouldn't think of painting any of my rooms in that color, or choose the furniture in it.
For example In my home office I have the following items in bright green: Several document trays, a knickknack box, several CD cases, a pencil case, a pen sharpener, my keyboards' lights, a cat transport box (with a broken lock, no longer useable for transport, but they love to play/doze in it) and one of three blankets that go over the sofa in a monthly rotation. Then there's the bedroom nightstand lamp and a funky bookcase in the floor.
I feel that is a lot of green in one apartment, but the amount probably wouldn't satisfy a sim house owner during a gig. - elliebreton5 years agoLegendI'm pretty glad they don't react to room colours.
I had gone through my game giving all my sims their likes and dislikes and then started playing one in the home design career... I had forgotten what her likes and dislikes were and decided to do a makeover of her own living room before starting on customers. Did it with orange and black, but mostly black. Then I discovered she doesn't like black lol.
Lucky for me she's quite happy to sit on her new black sofa watching her black TV. - AineOfMay5 years agoSeasoned AceI miss the environment need - could've been a nice for the colour likes and dislikes to effect that.
- babajayne5 years agoSeasoned AceMy favorite color has been orange since I was young but I barely own any orange clothes (doesn’t look good on me) and I don’t use it in my decor, either. And I have to admit I look good in dark green so I wear it but I hate it as a color.
Feels like a tricky thing to convert to a Sims game because it means something different to different people. It would be nice if it meant something in game but I don’t know what. Especially since we don’t get to pick all the color swatches on every object, it would be hard to control.
But it’s nice to know if it really doesn’t do anything because I can spend the 20 points on things that matter more. - ChampandGirlie5 years agoSeasoned AceSims can talk about their favorite colors and argue about preferences, especially kids. I've made some households where the sims have opposite tastes though more so with music. It mainly seems to just add more detail about sims. I'm glad that I don't have to arrange everything according to their favorite colors but getting a positive or negative buff based on a like or dislike would be good. I've seen the positive buff.
I've added likes and dislikes to about 75% of households then I've been letting the game add them to some. At some point, I'll do the rest. It's more about adding another layer of character development to them for me. I kind of had preferences for them before but now they are clearer. - Sharooonia5 years agoSeasoned AceAs far as I can tell none of the likes & dislikes affect much of anything. They get more mood swings from the system but will still do the things that they don’t like regardless. Colours don’t even seem to affect their moods so in effect they are rather pointless gameplay wise. I do still think it’s nice to know what their favourite colour is though.
- Reddestiny9215 years agoLegendThe strongest effect is on your clients I was watching someone who I guess forgot wood is brown and used it in a build where a client doesn't like brown and it didn't go over well. I have a lot of what colors my sim likes in her house so she's usually happy beyond that even though it wasn't the exact question just what I've seen. I have a dresser in her room that specifically is one of her likes and that makes her happy with a temporary impeccable taste moodlet. As for dislikes I made her write a confident book for the beginning of her career and her tense mood over hating writing turned to anger fairly quickly the longer I made her do it. Though it appears they expected people to get hissy fit worthy by completely removing your control so you're in charge but the sims definitely respond more than they used to. Which is the purpose of it all.

Mine did get a white helmet and her favorite color is white. Whether that was luck or intentional is up in the air.
