Is this game already considering a sim's fertility?

I've noticed that when I (rotationally) stop by a house to make them try for baby, the next time they are not pregnant and no baby is in the house. In other words it was a failure. Which I like. It would be a bit boring if it worked every single time. I no longer take the pregnancy test, it's more fun to stop by to check in a few days or weeks.

But I would like to know whether the chance of succeeding is the same for every couple, or if each sim also has a factor (hidden fertility gene) coming into consideration. Will some couples succeed easier than others? How important is their age?

I added fertility to the manual DNA-string I use for all my sims, and it affects how often a couple can try for baby, but if game also does this, it might be too much hazzle. I prefer it to be something "running in the family" rather than total random, though.

Anyone know?

  • Quickest way to check a sim if they are pregnant is clicking the toilet and see "throw up", it is as good a confirmation as any if you haven't used a test first.
  • Actually, from the Sims past, I would guess the chances of a Sim getting pregnant is likely around 80%. I do know that my Sim hasn't conceived each and every time she and her husband try for baby. She wept bitterly, too. Broke my heart, so I had them try again. LOL What can you do?

    @Chazzzy, I do believe the "fertile" trait is to help with twins, not just pregnancy in general. But, I could be wrong.
  • No fertility is the same for all sims of the same age group, between them it differs.

    There are ways to get fertility up which come from moodlets or that reward trait. You can get a fertility massage at a spa or if your sims have high herbalism there's a balm that sims can use to increase fertility. There might be more ways but idk.
  • The default chance of a successful try for baby is 80%. But when your sims are (very) flirty it does help. When one of the sims trying for baby is in a negative mood, that lowers chances of conception significantly.

    It does seem like young adults are more fertile than adults, but that kind of makes sense.

    yeah it is around 80%. on default in MCCC it says 80% there, so i'm assuming that is the base game percent chance as well. Sometimes you can have 3 bad results in a row before it comes, sometimes it happens right away. it seems about right.

    It's probably the same for everyone and that's why they gave us the "fertile" trait, to improve the odds of getting pregnant.

    Oh, thanks! I didn't know about this, assuming it was added with the Parenthood pack. I found some info online;

    "Fertile is a satisfaction reward trait. When sims have earned 3000 satisfaction points through completing whims, they can buy this in the Satisfaction Reward Store. This trait will affect the lifestyle, hobbies or emotions of your sims."

    In my game I prefer this to be something sims don't are aware of, I think being very fertile should not necessarily be something they want or plan for. That said, several sims had trips and twins without that trait, so I'll keep it my way then.
