I believe the risky actions can be completed successfully below level 5, they're generally tied to if you did your research and prepped before the work day. For example you might get asked to improve your handiness skill, and then you might have a repair scene. You're more likely to do the risky option well if you did the matching prep.

Thanks for the advice. I did the risky moves once, and my actress got a phone calling telling her not to expect a raise anytime soon. ^_^;;

It's good to have a better idea of when it might make sense to try them again.

Did you know that the "Safe" Actions aren't 100% guaranteed to complete?

One time, my Sim went to a Gig they couldn't fully prepare for, one of the prep tasks was to practice dramatic scenes and their acting skill wasn't high enough to unlock the interactions.

So instead of doing a Risky Sword Fight that I hadn't prepared for I just did the Safe version.
And guess what. My Sim immediately threw his sword right into the air and it landed on his foot!

I kind of hoped that the "Safe" action would be guaranteed to succeed but with a smaller increase to job performance.
What bad luck!

I don't think I've done a "safe" interaction since my actress's first gig. Ever since then her acting skill has been ridiculous high and I already have her do the proper prep tasks so I pretty much only do risky now and I always get gold.

I always do all the prep, come in Confident, choose the risky actions, get messages that I did great, score gold, and won a starlight accolade... etc... but my Sim never gets paid the median amount. She's a level 10 actress, with maxed acting skill. How do I increase the salary?

I can definitely back this up! I exclusively do "Risky" actions when doing gigs and I've never had anything backfire on me. But like many others in this thread, I complete all the tasks (except for making jokes... my Sim developed the "Serious Actor" quirk after some time), and if I am particularly ambitious I will complete the tasks suggested prior to the actual gig, after the audition (schmoozing with producers or co-stars, researching emotions, etc.). My Sim became a Global Superstar in no time honestly.

Sorry, your story made me laugh. But not at your Sim, with your Sim. Of all the things that can go wrong … Murphy's Law. I watched a great deal of the Carol Burnett Show years ago. Something was always going wrong … and sometimes it's funny. :open_mouth:

This happens to me as well! What can I do? I’m never paid more than 7k
