Up until now, I've sung the virtues of having a Butler over a Nanny. The Butler is diligent when it comes to taking care of the babies, in particular. My Rock Star just returned home from a concert, stopping by the studios briefly to release his new album. After what some players were saying on the forum this morning, I decided to have him change the diaper and feed his infant daughter. However, before he could do that, the Butler walked right into the Master Suite and fed the infant, who promptly went to sleep.In the meantime, after such an exuberant night my Sim desired some 'alone time' with his wife. But, yet there stood the Butler. Even after my Sim shooed him from the room. Of course, my bad, I had his wife praise the Butler for his good work in the interim. Once again, my Sim gives his wife a suggestion of woohoo and then shoos the Butler. What does the Butler do in response? He picks up the newborn infant to feed her once again. Face/palm.Is this his way of keeping down his workload? It's not like I chose "try for baby", or anything. LOLI do appreciate how diligent at his job he is, but c'mon on! The Sim just needs a little lovin'. LOLPlease do share your moments when things don't go quite as planned. :*

I use this mod from littlemssam called "Better Butlers" that fixes the butler issue: https://littlemssam.tumblr.com/post/175405054223/better-butler-and-hire-more-butler-adjusts-the. I think the butler is currently broken in game, especially since he doesn't do anything I instruct him to do, he just stood there before I installed this mod.As for a moment for when things didn't go quite as I planned was when my sims had a birthday party for their kid and someone goes and takes a slice before they could put the birthday candles on. Talk about crashing the party...

The families I have butlers with all have huge mansions, so I lose track of my butler a lot. Lol. Some of them are excellent at their jobs, and others just read their book on how to be a butler all day. I've noticed most of my butlers are nocturnal, but they're not vampires so I don't get it.

Mwuahahahah, I just got even with the Butler. If he thought he could hold down his workload, baby number three is on the way …

When I want to take care of the baby but the Butler is in the way, I click on the Butler and task him to make a meal. Then he’s gone for a little while and you can have some alone time :)

One of my sim couples left the baby and toddler with the butler to go out clubbing. When they get to the second club of the night, who sits at the bar, if not the butler who is supposed to be at the house looking after the small ones. As my couple arrives home, the baby and toddler are alone and running to the house and in through the door is the butler.

Same butler passed out alot in the childrens room and refused using the bad assigned to her.

I also once got a butler with the hate children trait....

:O Oh, my word! I have never had such a Butler. Always had good luck with them. I do have my Sims praise them often and chat to build up a relationship with them, however. Maybe that's the key?

This whole thread makes me look forward to playing long enough for my Sims to afford a big house with a butler. They are too new and poor just yet.

I got lucky in an earlier game with a competent Nanny. Socialised to the point where she was a family friend.
Only thing was, when I left the toddlers with her once and sent my Sim to the Flea Market, active Sim is at the Flea Market when she got a call inviting her TO the Flea Market, from the Nanny. :D

Can’t quite think of anything right now, but I will say how useless my butlers are. :# I remember being so excited when they were released. I loved having butlers in TS3. But since having them in TS4, I can barely ever actually use them, because they either don’t even show up or when they do, they do absolutely nothing and don’t listen to my Sims.

My butler all die afterwards 4 days of sevice.. can't figure it out. I see them taking care of their own needs so it is not that. No mods
