plot twist: they pull a my first pets stuff and make it only available in a stuff pack
I hadn't thought of that before, but you're probably right. Wouldn't be surprised in January to see a new SP, or maybe even a GP, with another world, a director career, and maybe even an actual singer career.
Whose going to make those packs seeing Kate said they leave for Holiday after the next Guru's Monthly in Early December (December 4th) and don't come back until January 8th (for January's Monthly I believe. No guru's means no January packs unless they have one almost ready before they leave after December 4th.
I guessed they'd have something in mid to late February probably.- SennaWalesNew Spectator

Just like other careers like being a chef, it's really boring to watch your sim just stand around and have that as an "active" job. What makes an active job good is the moving around and doing big physical stuff. Pointing and yelling at sims, clicking on a stove or washing machine is not gameplay.
They could do so much more with directing. Coordinating fight scenes, love scenes, writing out scenes, budgeting, firing and hiring actors and actresses, going to award ceremonies, filming, etc. Pointing and yelling at Sims is gameplay. Anything that's done in game, is gameplay. It may be boring (like Laundry Day) but it's still gameplay and more is better than less. And if push comes to shove it doesn't even have to be an active career.
What you're describing is closer to how it is with owning a restaurant, which is one of the weaker features in the series, being too micromanagey. Also, how would you incorporate skill or performance into this? If you really want to cast a particular sim, and the game tells you it's wrong, is the game right, or should you be able to do what you want? It's all good as a concept, but it's displaying it that's the tricky part. - fruitsbasket100New VanguardI was thinking the same thing! Being a person who loves to write, I would be thrilled if I got to be the director instead of the actor. And as @liliaeth said, we can already build our own sets so why not take that extra step and let us be the director? I had a similar problem with Dine Out. I wanted not only to own my own restaurant, but to work there as a chef or waiter as well. Why do they keep limiting our options?

Directors are not usually the writer - the screen writer is a different job and actually something you can do in a game under the writer career when you sell a screenplay. The director directs the direction the film goes in, what the actor does, your actor needs to talk with the director and only after they are fully prepared - they do just specific things and for a career would be pretty hum drum boring as they just sit in a chair answering questions or tossing you out for not being ready or doing all you are supposed to do with in a certain amount of time. It is pretty much a pre-scripted job that really would not play out well for a hands on job if you ask me - as it is very limited.- fruitsbasket100New Vanguard

True, but in my head the Director career would kinda work how the acting career works except flipped. For example instead of being called to do auditions for commercials and such, the director would be called with script ideas. They would get a choice of western, commercials, sifi, etc. When the day would come to film, they would have tasks such as hire/fire actors and stylists, direct the scene, give notes. But they would also get to set up the scene. You would get to put up the sets according to whatever the script was but, you would get to choose the stuff they did in the scenes with the little set markers and the special effects. You would essentially be creating the actual story based on a topic you were given. So they technically wouldn't be writing the scripts but you could set up the scene anyway you wanted to so its close enough that it would feel like you had. "fruitsbasket101;c-16845202" wrote:

It can't - it is a AI controlled career. It cannot be controlled by us as it triggers the actors to do what they need to do to become famous.
What you are talking about would be the producer, not really the director. I don't believe there are producers in this game - but I don't have it so I don't know. I just know the director is doing the AI designed job as it would work as he direct the direction everything goes in - the producer is over the director and everything else from scripts to stars - to the over all production. There are also jobs in between to under those same headings. It way more involved than what you see in this game. LOL.
But anyway - I think I will just let the whole subject rest as I am not getting the pack regardless as they will not add lots and it is just too few lots for me - so I really don't have any apples in this cart and you have every right to wish for what you might have liked too. The more players get in the play is after all what a game is supposed to be about - and I do agree it might have been nice for more player options of even director and more in your game. After all it is a game. Who knows maybe somehow they will add a few more fame jobs. I am sure you are not alone in your wishes for more involvement. I have just given up as they seem steadfast in keeping the world to tiny for some of our enjoyment - but if you can enjoy it - that is really all that matters. Have fun.- There was a lot of potential as far as careers that were missed. Even just as rabbit holes, or ones having a work-from-home option. Director and singer off the top of my head. Paparazzi/Photographer/Journalist. That would have been cool, daily task to take photos/interview celebs.
- I think they might use lot of time ensure not get major bug break, more Sims 4 had with all pack other, more work for them to get new pack work with all other pack and sims. That's my guessing theory and EA's primary is time and money, limited time for game developer to create and work well with all other packs or not all packs depend on people who had it or not to ensure game flow smoothly as they can. Or I could be wrong.
