Winning a Professional Computer Games Tournament?

My sim has mastered gaming skill. But when I enter the professional tournament. My sim comes in either 3rd or 2nd place.

What do I need to do. In order for my sim to successfully come in 1st place?
  • So has mine and is in the tech career - gaming thread but anytime I enter a contest.. I never come close and get the plumming sad moodlet
  • I have a Sim who has leveled video gamng and enters Pro tournaments all the time. Sometimes he comes in 2nd or 3rd, but mostly 1st. There are a few things I've noticed help to get that coveted 1st place.

    1. The ideal mood is focused. Have your Sim browse Simpedia, ponder moves in chess, study a fossil or evven better, paint a mathmatical drawing while focused and then hang it near their computer or virtual gaming mat. Whichever device they've used to enter a tournament.

    2. Make sure all their needs are at least green, but maxed out is even better.

    3. Lastly, I believe having a high level Logic skill is a factor too. My Sim has leveled out that skill too.

One more thing, I'm guessing having certain traits help too, for instance Genius. I hope this helps! Happy Simming! <3
  • I agree with what @Karababy52 said but I'd like to add what I read a long time ago when I also had the same issue XD

Apparently if you have the sim play the game you want to enter a tournament in before, like let them play the game normally for a couple of hours and then enter the competition. I usually always got first after I did that (as well a being focused etc) but I don't know if that was the reason. I tried to actually let them play the game until the action was over, without me cancelling it out before it has run its time and then enter the competition, but it takes a long time.

I also read that the more your sim plays the game, like overall, the more likely he/ she is to win. Like if you enter a competition in a game your sim hasn't played in a while you're more likely to end up second or third etc. I don't know if there is any actual truth to this as I haven't checked the game code or anything, it's just what I read :)
  • I had one sim used to win all the time. The family actually got rich that way! But my most recent Sims to attempt it suffers losses a lot. I wonder if it is random. I tried all the same stuff second time round but with little joy.
  • I might try the playing one of the games a lot and then entering in that tournament.. get her focussed as well from the berries in JA so it lasts longer? -
  • Each video game your Sims play has a hidden skill tied to how many game minutes that Sim has played overall. To max game skill for each video game played, the Sim has to have played a total of 1,000 game minutes, or roughly 16.5 game hours. This info is in the Sims wiki.
  • Thanks for the additional info. @paradiseplanet It makes perfect sense then why my Sim gets first place so often. He's played at least triple those hours or more on each of the video games. I still think it doesn't hurt to do all the things mentioned above as well to help up your odds. :)
  • I've tried all of that but it didn't help my sim win. Even if Logic skill is maxed and needs are all green.
