- Same as above, not even close. D.U.! (also don't own magic G.P.). By the end of TS2, university synergised so well with other packs, such as 'Bon Voyage', that the university experience was one of a kind, and impossible for me to even consider missing. In TS3, you had such the incredible payraise (like if I remember +1000§/hour as a world renowned surgeon), plus the +3 work performance hidden metric, that it was hard to pass on for powerplayers such as myself. In TS4 I have absolutely ZERO reasons to even consider enrolling. Pay is better via 'career hopper', you can attend clubs as a non-student; if you have a job, you lose it as you enroll... It's full of bad game design ideas like that, to the point you make your sim's life harder as you join. Oh and what a delicious idea to bring up a rivalry between the two universities, while giving them specific distinguished degrees... Ennemies today, friends tomorrow...
- This poll is so interesting to me because it's like the early packs were not so good and now the recent ones are not so good. I can forgive the early packs because it's a new iteration of the series, the team is trying to figure out what's what. But I'm not sure there's an excuse for the latest packs...

Since I've been stuck at home for a while now, I finally sent some of my YA sims to University, and I can say without reservation that it is THE WORST expansion pack of all (the only one I don't own is Magic.)
First of all, so much is wrong right out of the gate. I got more Last Exception errors in the time my sims were in school than in my entire history of playing the game. Even though Seasons has been out forever since this pack, none of the buildings had thermometers, so sims were always freezing, and sims never changed their clothes when they went outdoors in the cold. Whims couldn't be fulfilled consistently, ESPECIALLY if I locked them.
I started with two sims, then added another to the same house. The third sim graduated before the other two. One of the first two somehow needed to take another class, even though he had signed up for and passed all the classes he should have needed. The other failed one of her classes even though she'd done all the work. I signed each of them up for one of the three organizations. IF I could remember to check the meetings regularly (why can't they sign up in advance? Why no reminders? Why can't it go on the calendar? Oh, wait - almost nothing from Seasons was integrated into this pack!) and get them to go, not only would they be in different places from where my sim had been sent, but sometimes none of the planned activities even happened. PLUS, just as with regular whims, I couldn't get the achievements ticked off no matter how I tried. PLUS PLUS, these activities were boring as anything. If I tried to liven things up, the way the actions were queued, my proposed action would age out before my sim got a chance to do it, over and over and over.
During regular home life, I constantly had to teleport sims out from behind furniture. I couldn't delete the problem furniture, either, like the coffee table that prevented sims from sitting on the sofa to watch TV. Random sims would show up, and my sims would not have the options "ask to leave" or "goodbye," and often had to sleep on chairs (couldn't get to the sofa, remember?) because the visitors would sit on their beds for hours at a time.
Towards the end, I mostly put the game on high speed and waited for it to be over so I could get out of there. I MIGHT send someone back to see if, say, the robotics major is less boring, or if Foxbury is less painfully dull than Britechester, but if it's still just as bad, that sim might just drop out and move back in with mom and dad.
There seems to be something wrong with your game. Apart from the mistake of enrolling more than one Sim at a time (that is not a good idea, and yes, that's a limitation) the rest is either something wrong with your game, your mods:- What coffee table? Sims cannot get stuck behind furniture, the game will phase them thru, if necessary.
- Sims automatically moves if they sit on your dorm bed and you want to go to bed.
- If you can't remember to check the schedule, that is your fault and not the fault of the game. Again. don't enroll three Sims at once.
- Random Sims does not show up at your "home" (dorm / university housing). Your housemates friends and partners will however show up. They are not random. If you don't want to live in a dorm, don't live in a dorm. If you don't want roomates, don't have roomates. You can go to Uni from your own house. To complain other students exist kind of negates the idea with moving away from home and into Uni housing to begin with...
- you Sim never gets sent to an activity other than class. It is not the game's fault that you don't remember what lot the meeting is at.
- What coffee table? Sims cannot get stuck behind furniture, the game will phase them thru, if necessary.
- I thought this was an unpopular opinion of mine, but after voting I see I am not the only one not liking this expansion pack.
The careers are nice, but I really hate the retail system. I really hate the iPad idea and I was really hoping that the system will be not only focused on owning a retail store, but also on visiting them. But sadly, that's not the case.
Every time when I put an retail store in the world that I want my sims to visit to, I have to play another family, let them buy the store and set everything on sale... The game should be able to at least generate workers itself. It's also really hard to create good, functional malls.
I really really miss the realistic gameplay where you are able to go to the store for groceries, clothes etc. - I changed my mind from my original response, for me it's easily Discover University, its the only pack I've bought that I've regretted buying and wished I could refund. I just don't see the point, I can't be bothered with University in the Sims as theres no incentive or reason to bother, my sims can achieve exactly the same things and quicker without University. I bought the pack a few months ago and I've been saying I'd send my sims to university at some point since then but I just can't be bothered as I don't care, I finally tried to move my sims into university today and I was bored within five minutes. I guess if you're into legacy gameplay it could be fun but for me it just doesnt do it.
Also It just feels like a pack that you'd use once and never use again, none of the stuff included can be used outside of university, there's a few nice clothes for teen sims but that's about it. The roommate system is the only good thing about the pack in my opinion, but even that is painful to use as sims reject you 90% of the time unless you have a mod - Get to Work was the first expansion pack I ever bought (and the first one to come out, for that matter) and honestly, I think I only used the CAS objects for about a week after I purchased it. I really don't like aliens or having my sims be abducted by them, and never once, in my 5 years of playing this game, have I had a sim own a business. You can't even go to a business without having to create another entire family, having them buy the business, and setting everything for sale. The concept is cool but it just doesn't fit into my gameplay style. I had a sim with the active doctor career once, but again, this was within the first week of buying the pack when I wanted to try it out. For me, the only redeeming quality is the pack allowing for pregnant sims to have their baby at the hospital as this is the only thing I find myself ever using.
- University is the worst pack. Gameplay is very minimal , just homework /term paper/presentation which is really boring to watch.
- Omg I love get to work, as if it’s leading?! Don’t get me wrong it’s not perfect, but it has some of the best BB; labs, hospitals, police stations and retail stores are all fun to build? I love aliens, though it’s a shame they aren’t as fleshed out as vampires were later down the line. If anything the pack was prob a little ambitious, especially by TS4 standards, as some of the features could do with expanding further.. They should unlock the hidden hospital/ police neighbourhood and have it in Magnolia Promenade. Visit the hospital like the vet clinic when sick; cops and robber NPCs etc. Retail is fun to build, but needs work tbh, but it’s the same with dine out. The whole business management thing hasn’t really been locked down in TS4..
I voted seasons as my least favourite, as I find it way overrated. Yeah the weather system is cute, and the calendar is handy, but they’re kinda things I’d expect in base game by this point. I find both the BB and CAS to be lacking, the cold category is especially disappointing with only a handful of outfits..? I’m struggling to think what else the pack adds other than the bee box and the scarecrow? - Simmerville5 years agoLegendI like all my EPs. The only one I don't own is Island Living, so I guess that must be the worst, but it would be unfair voting on some pack I never played... so I didn't.
- Beardedgeek725 years agoSeasoned AceI really enjoy University. I was very hesitant before buying it, just like with Jungle Adventure, but both are two of my favorite packs (and yes I know JA isn't an expansion pack).
