Game crashing back to world select, not loading household

Im having a bit of a conundrum, i created a symbolic link for the game to be on my external SSD along with all my mods and custom content. The first problem i have is that the game will not load any household, even creating new ones. wont load those either. I have removed absolutely everything and it wont load. Just goes back to select a world. I deleted the sims 4 folder and generated a new one, and new symbolic link and it still wont load. now it comes with the additional problem where none of my custom content shows up. most of it is only one subfolder deep but wont show up in game.

So my custom content is not being read by the game, and the game wont load any households, even when i create a new household. Removing mods doesnt solve the issue. ive even updated all of them, and when i add them back, the better exceptions is triggered by every mod in my folder, even though they're all up to date. Im at a loss at what to do

me too bro idk what to do

  • SharketteLaw92  Does this happen if you remove the symbolic link?  As long as you don't move the files from your external drive back to your internal one, launching a new game won't eat up much storage, and it's a quick test.  Let me know how it goes.

fde50379fa471d78 Sooxhi  Please go through the troubleshooting steps listed here:

    [START HERE] Crashing/Back to Map/Endless loading (Patch 117.221) | EA Forums - 12512130

And if nothing helps, provide the information requested for whatever category of issue you're seeing.

  • Yeah it's happening to me too. I tried repairing the game and removing all my script mods but nothing worked. old saves fail to load into Live, brand new saves fail to load too. cas works fine, build mode works fine with a couple moments of lag, but Live is just non functional.

I fixed the problem. Well sort of. I found the culprit preventing me from loading a household and it was a bad script mod. However my custom content is still not reading if its even one folder deep

  • SharketteLaw92  I thought you'd tested with your mods removed.  It sounded like you did so, AND removing the symlink would have kept the mods (and all your existing user data) from loading, which was part of the point.

Anyway, I've moved your thread to the Mods forum.  It might help to let the game generate a new Mods folder and Resource.cfg, then move your mods and cc there.  Other than that, maybe someone else can help you here.
