I LEARNED HOW TO FIX THE BUUGGGS

Okay, so after many hours of sorting through files and being pissed off, my game was able to open up without the mods folder and I figured out a fix that at least works for me.

Go into setting and switch from DirectX11 to DX9. This helps the game see all the script (that have been updated) and package files that the DX11 had overlooked because it messes with graphics and older models in a weird way. This also made it where the Error message wouldn't pop up and crash the game from the EA app.

I hope this helps you guys :)

These posts are everywhere but im trying to tell the people the british are coming.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. :'(

I uninstalled Reshade and everything, and nothing. CCs don't load with the game...

  • Tried this with mine, still couldn't get in. Thanks for the suggestion though. Seems like something in the coding is screwed up again. Shocker.

  • Were you getting "Failed to Launch Error"? If so, you're likely looking at a coincidence. This is NOT a replicable fix to that problem.

  • So this is what FINALLY worked for me to get my game to open without deleting all my mods after the March 18 update (bc whew… it’s been a mess 😩) I'm NEVER updating my game again.

    1. Open the game from the program files (not the usual way)

    Go to: C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe

    👉 Double-click TS4_x64.exe

👉 Don’t use your desktop shortcut or EA/Origin

    2. Let the game try to load. It’s going to look like it’s starting… then it’ll throw an error. That’s actually what you want.

    3. Look at the error message. It’ll tell you exactly which mod is breaking your game. It’ll look something like

“Cannot start because the below file appears to be corrupted…”

    …Mods\redheadsims-ts4-SquareOmbreNails.package

    4. Go find that mod by going to your Mods folder & search for the file name it gave you (for example: redheadsims-ts4-SquareOmbreNails.package)

    5. Remove the broken file. (Delete it or move it out of your Mods folder (if you want to keep it just in case).

    6. Repeat the process. Open TS4_x64.exe again. Let it show the next broken mod. Remove that one, Keep doing this until the game finally loads.

I’m not even exaggerating . I’ve been at this for 2 days 🫠 but this method saved me from deleting my whole Mods folder. Hopefully it helps somebody else too. I'm going to try and share where i can!

  • my game actually opened doing this. I have a loading screen 😭🙌🏽 I was only able to get this without my mods folder. Thank you!!
