i removed all mods and tested without them in a new save, and then updated the ones that managed to slip through the cracks and not get updated at all and slowly went through them to make sure none of them were causing it. none of them caused the glitch to occur in the new save.

however, on the save showed in my screenshot, the issue is persisting—and it does not occur on new saves. so i think i might've corrupted that save accidentally by saving over a clean version or something, which is really disappointing.

im gonna try starting a completely new save to see if it happens again, and if it does im pretty sure i know which mods are the culprits now (even though they're updated to the current version)

my partner is also telling me to ask if it's possible to uncorrupt a save file, but i don't know if it's possible or not. (im assuming their save file isn't having this persistent issue because they didn't save over—their game had instead completely frozen.)
