Request: Create a Sim Texture Image Base Templates
@SimGuruModSquad @SimGuruEugi
I'm trying to create an external tool for The Sims 4 that replicates the main features of The Sims 3's Create a Style tool for CAS textures. The tool multiplies the RGB values of the base texture with that of the selected colour (or in case of patterns, it loops through the pixels of the pattern relative to the position on the base image) to create CC textures that have quality that is indistinguishable.
It works perfectly on the few textures it can be used on, but that's limited to basic t-shirts, tank tops, underwear and a few other textures. The vast majority of textures available in the game either don't have medium-gray versions (simply converting an existing texture to grayscale results in a very noticeable loss of detail) or already have textures or stencils that can't be easily removed.
Obviously I don't know exactly how production of official content works, but I assume they're built from grayscale bases that aren't included in the game itself. Is there any chance that you could share these with the community? or would the higher-ups not allow it?
It would help not only with the tool I'm making, but would open up more options for CC creators in general.
If the templates were shared as layered PSDs, that would be even better as it would make it possible to edit different parts of the texture and still have them blend well.
