Re: Sims 4 game crashes when saving and all progress is lost everytime on Xbox one

Sul sul, @BubskibaNation. Let's see if we can track this down to get the game saving for you again.

First, let's try clearing the system cache by power-cycling the Xbox One.

  1. While your console is on, press and hold the Xbox button for 5 seconds. Wait for the console to power down.

  2. Unplug the power cord and wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in, and press the Xbox button on the console to start the console.

Let's also make sure that your Xbox is updated to the latest version.

Please let me know how that goes.

  • Yeah I’ve tried that and all these steps as well:

    CLEAR ALTERNATE MAC ADDRESS (connect)

    1. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternative Mac Address > Clear
    2. After this shut down the console, disconnect the power cord from the back of the Xbox One and wait two minutes.
    3. Once the two minutes have passed, plug the power back in and wait for the power bricks light to go from White to Orange.
    4. Once the brick is Orange, start your console.

    ♦CLEAR PERSISTENT STORAGE (connect)

If console is wired connected, remove Ethernet cable. If console is wireless, Go to Settings > Network > Select their Network > Disconnect.
Once it is back on, press Menu button > Settings > Blu Ray & Disc > Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage three times.

    ♦POWERCYCLE XBOX ONE (connect)

Follow these steps to power cycle your Xbox One Console:
    1. While the console is on, press and hold the console's Xbox button for 5 seconds.
    2. The console will power down.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn your console back on by again pressing the Xbox button.

    ♦CHANGE PRIVACY SETTINGS

    1. From the Home Screen, using the controller scroll left to the navigation pane.
    2. Scroll down to Settings Icon.
    3. In the Setting menu scroll down to Account.
    4. Under Account, select Family.
    5. Enter the password or passkey.
    6. Select the account that you want to update.
    7. Select the category of settings you want to update, such as Privacy & online safety.
    8. Select the Adult defaults.
    9. Toggle back to Child defaults and then finally back to Adult defaults once more.
    10. Powercyle the console to complete the troubleshooting.

    Thanks for the update, @BubskibaNation.

If it's still causing some crashes, let's see if we can work only with the local save rather than cloud saves. Can you disable the cloud saves temporarily for your Xbox One and give that a try?

  • I'm having the same issue and it's really starting to frustrate me. But not only does my xbox crash when trying to save, but when I try to get my sim to travel as well. This problem did not start until my system got the new revamped sims update with all of the new branding and whatnot. It's really starting to * me off that I can't even get my sim to travel now much less save my game without it crashing. Is there anything else that can be done to prevent this from continuing to happen?

  • CLEAR ALTERNATE MAC ADDRESS (connect) (I have not tried this yet)

♦CLEAR PERSISTENT STORAGE (connect) (Will this delete my already save games? If so I'm not willing to try this one)

If console is wired connected, remove Ethernet cable. If console is wireless, Go to Settings > Network > Select their Network > Disconnect.
Once it is back on, press Menu button > Settings > Blu Ray & Disc > Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage three times.

♦POWERCYCLE XBOX ONE (connect) (Received another saying to do something similar except with an extra step. Disconnecting the power cord as well and waiting 2 minutes then reconnecting and restarting. Will try it and see if it works)

Follow these steps to power cycle your Xbox One Console:
    1. While the console is on, press and hold the console's Xbox button for 5 seconds.
    2. The console will power down.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn your console back on by again pressing the Xbox button.

♦CHANGE PRIVACY SETTINGS (Will try this as well if the other steps don't work. Will let you know.)

    1. From the Home Screen, using the controller scroll left to the navigation pane.
    2. Scroll down to Settings Icon.
    3. In the Setting menu scroll down to Account.
    4. Under Account, select Family.

Hey there, @blessedangel1068. Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the Clear Persistent Storage step, if you have cloud saves enabled and your saves are on the cloud, then clearing persistent storage won't be an issue there. However, if cloud saves are not enabled and are only local, then I would not run this step. I hope that helps!

    Hey there, @LilyFlowerNay95.

If you have tried all the steps previously, and you know your Xbox Live login information, another thing you can try is to delete and re-add your gamertag to your console. This can help with refreshing our licenses without uninstalling the game itself. Can you give that a try and let me know how it goes for you?

Hey there, @LilyFlowerNay95. Thanks for the update.

As you mentioned you had performed all the troubleshooting prior, I just want to verify if you've tried the step about disabling cloud saves to only work off local save files? I just want to confirm that saving in a different manner would help the crash situation in this circumstance.

If you have tried that with no luck, make sure that cloud saves are re-enabled and let's bring out the big guns.

Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game? As consoles don't have the Repair Game option that the Origin client on PC does, this helps ensure that it only downloads the newest files on a fresh install. Let me know how it goes for you.

Sul sul, @LilyFlowerNay95. Thanks for the reply.

I apologize if you missed the post earlier. You can find the cloud storage information for Xbox One here. While it specifies Xbox 360 in the article, many of the details there in terms of managing the data still apply. I hope that helps! 🙂

    Hi,

ive had all the same issues and tried lots of things and none of it works. Its happening with one household for me ive created others and i can use them fine and save no crashing.

i done all of the above as well ive cleared the cache, ive reinstalled the game

i even tried installing the game and all my packs on another xbox console still didnt work.

its a game issue EA’s problem, if it was a console issue other games you played would do it too

Ignore all the stuff there coming out with about restarting the console and all that BS. It wont do anything because it a problem with the game EA suggesting clearing caches and stuff are them basically saying its Microsoft fault because the console is causing problems to the game.

its all EA and they need to sort it asap ive spent a lot on the game, EA are bringing out more packs in the future for console so people wont buy them if there game isnt working with the packs they have already have.

ive had this issue since about June 2019 and nothing has been done, the more things EA are bringing out is going to make the game unplayable in the end.

  • I agree, I have been having this problem for too long now and its just getting worst, like everyone else I have tried all the trouble shooting, lost so much progress after so many hours, spent a fair bit of money on this game for it to become unplayable. Hopefully EA can focus on this soon.

    Okay, I have had a similar problem but mine involved the Error 22.  I found a workaround though and it may help for you as well.  Although I agree that EA needs to fix it ,from what I've found the issue is too many save slots for the same world game.  So what you can try is deleting all but one save slot, go back into the game and give it a go again and see if the issue is resolved.  I created a walkthrough if you want to try it but you need to understand a few things;

    1. This walkthrough was designed around the Error 22 issue
    2. Although you should lose nothing by following these steps exactly, it does require the deletion of all saves for that world/household.
    3. I know it sounds scary to delete every save for a game that you've been playing for a long time, but again you should not lose any data IF YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS EXACTLY
    4. This walkthrough requires you to not have the game running as the very first step is to Load The Sims 4 and that is important for some reason.
    5. As I said, I used this and it worked.  Sadly, it is the only thing that I've found that works for the error 22 save issue.

So here's the walkthrough, please let me know if it helps:

WARNING: THIS PROCESS CALLS FOR THE COMPLETE DELETION OF ALL SAVE FILES FOR THIS HOUSEHOLD/WORLD

    1. Load The Sims 4
    2. Load a saved game (preferably the latest save but not autosave
    3. Enter household (if you get a warning that some content is missing go to the "Quit Sims 4" steps below then start again with step 1 of this process)
    4. Press the menu button
    5. Select Save
    6. Highlight one of the saves for this household/world
    7. Press Y (This is to delete the save)
    8. Highlight the checkmark and press A to confirm delete
    9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 to delete all saves for this household/world ONCE YOU DO THIS, ALL SAVE GAMES ARE GONE FOR THIS HOUSEHOLD/WORLD
    10. Select an empty save slot and save
    11.  OMG! OMG! OMG! THE GAME SHOULD BE PLAYABLE AGAIN!!!!!!!

    Quit Sims 4

    1. Press the Xbox button
    2. Highlight The Sims 4
    3. Press the menu button
    4. Scroll down to and select Quit
  • @EA_Arrenai We need a fix ASAP for this issue players have put too much time and money into this game and not be able to play its extremely frustrating and has gone on for way too long!! Ive reported this issue so many times I've lost count and I am becoming very impatient with waiting for an actual fix.
