Don't worry, purchased content doesn't disappear completely, it may just need to be reinstalled but first of all they need to make sure that they are signed in to the right account on which the content was purchased. Then take a look at the attached links to get access to the content again.

I can't say why it's vanished in the first place, that would usually only happen after a console reset, switching consoles without doing a network transfer or as I mentioned earlier by being signed in to the wrong account. But it will still be retrievable because they own it.
