I have had sims 4 for a few years now and I played it all the time. A couple of months ago, my sims 4 game just stopped opening and that is including sims 3 and origin. Well a few days ago I decided to uninstall origin and download it again. I was finally able to open sims 4 (still cannot open sims 3) My create a sim works perfectly. Once I move my sim into the world, I can play smoothly without any problems for 2-5 minutes. Then, my game starts freezing and being so slow that I can not play. I will move my camera and then my game will freeze and my camera will move 30 seconds later and freeze again. This is so frustrating because I want to be able to play! I have no custom content and I play on a 2012 Mac. Can anyone help?

@scharry03 You're running an out of date version of Mojave, 10.14.1. Please can you update to the current level in System Preferences and see if that makes a difference.

I downloaded TS4 and the Seasons EP. CAS works just fine, but loading a household causes an immediate crash and exit to desktop. No CC, no mods, literally just downloaded the game for the first time. Tried setting graphics to low, tried running Legacy Edition, tried updating and repairing, tried dragging the Options.ini folder to desktop. Any other suggestions?

You don't need the Legacy Edition as your Mac supports Metal. With only 4GB RAM your Mac may be struggling so make sure you don't have any other apps or background processes running.

Do you have any saves or tray items yet in your Sims 4 folder?

It may be an idea to update to the latest version of Mojave, 10.14.6.

@Bluebellflora I tried again with the game out of fullscreen, no other programs running, and WiFi off. It lasted a few seconds longer than before, but still crashed. I have saves and tray items.

(Also, thank you! Your articles made it possible for me to play TS3 on this computer! After 7hrs of trying lol)

Just tried again, this time having uninstalled Legacy and the EP. I ran my Activity Monitor the whole time to see what was happening with memory. It showed "yellow" a couple of times, but never red. When the game crashed, the memory tracker was showing green and my Mac was using about 2.90 GB of 4.00 available.

Would the unexpected quit report be useful? I have no idea how to interpret those things.

Hi there,
I'm playing Sims 4 on a Mac running Mojave 10.14 and every time I load a game it crashes. I've tried going offline, disabling Origin to play in game, repairing the game, deleting new saves, clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, resetting Origin, almost everything the forums have suggested and I still have no luck. I've been trying at this for almost 3 hours. Please let me know what my next step is.

Did you update your Mac to the current version of Mojave, 10.14.6? You do it through System Preferences.

As you have some saves and tray items already it would be a good idea to move the whole Sims 4 folder to the desktop then relaunch the game And see if it’s simply a corrupted file. Try turning off Origin in-game in both Origin settings and the game settings in the Origin games library.
