Thanks for the reply - I ran my game vanilla and played for an hour, and it didn't happen. I'll go through my CC and see how high poly some of the furniture I have downloaded is. I'm getting a gaming PC soon so I doubt this will be an issue in the near future, but it'll be nice to figure it out now.
