@sunkissis Maxis allows custom content because people have been using it since Sims 1. Whether or not the developers wanted that to happen, players are going to keep adding it. So instead of fighting a losing battle, they've streamlined the process. At least with this setup, there are fewer opportunities to damage saves or the game files themselves. But that doesn't mean that Maxis has any obligation to make considerations for third-party content.
For your issue, it sounds like the game is reading a different folder than the one you're using. Since you have iCloud enabled, you may be looking in the iCloud version of Documents rather than the one stored locally. To see the full file path of a file or folder, right-click on it and select Get Info, then look under "Where." If you don't add or remove the custom content from the folder Sims 4 uses, the changes won't appear in your game.
Thank you Puzzleaddict,
I did what you suggested and this is where my game is located: /Users/Elizabeth/Documents/Electronic Arts It says it located in icloud, I have always stored the game in icloud because I'm using my macbook and I have 3 tb of storage on my icloud account. The weird part is the cc is showing up when I click gameplay then other and view custom content, everything is there. Alll my wallpapers are gone, all my clutter and furniture is gone from my apartment. My mods seem to still work fine, I haven't gotten a last exception error. I even moved some cc that was broken out of my mods folder but my townies are still showing up with the broken hair (so scary!) I don't know what else to do? I really don't want to start over from scratch. I paid for patreons to get most of this cc and I don't want to have to pay again.
I am willing to p (ay) someone to screenshare and take a look. I need this fixed and I am only making things worse.

Hey @sunkissis,
As this is an issue dealing with custom content, I'm afraid it's not one we'll be able to directly assist with here.
While we're able to offer some tips as a community and a number of helpful tips have already done so, this is ultimately something you'll need to tackle on your own as custom content is not supported.
I'm going to be closing this thread as offers for paid assistance really aren't appropriate here, but please check back through the prior posts to see what other suggestions you may be able to work through on your own system.
