Cannot interact with other sims

Mostly everything else in the game works fine. Interactions with objects can be a little bit delayed but interacting with other sims is nearly impossible. I have multiple families in my save file, with some of them, the pie menu for interactions is only delayed by a few seconds. However, others may be able to have one interaction but when I click on the sim again, it doesn’t load or the game time freezes completely. Other families are completely unable to interact via the pie menu at all.
