Can't find Mods folder after switching to EA App on USB?

Hi,

I ran out of storage on my mac, so I've purchased a USB stick to download the new EA App onto for Sims 4.

All is well, EA app and Sims 4 Downloaded, but I'm unable to find the Electronic Arts folder and the Mods Folder?

It's all on a USB, if that affects it in some way?

    Hey @jackramsauer,

    The folders you're looking for should be on the Mac itself. Could you check your Documents folder on your machine to see if you can find Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4 -> Mods there?
  • @EA_QueenBee Hi!

    Thankyou so much!
    Is there a way to make it so that the Electronic Arts and its contents are on the USB instead of my mac? I use iCloud so all my files backup to it and it's a big struggle having to wait for all my mods to redownload, which is the main reason I bought a USB.

    Thanks so much!

    @jackramsauer,

    I'm not super familiar with Mac (I've only used Windows my whole life) so I can't vouch for any methods working, but we have some real tech-wizards on the forums who've written guides that might be of some help. Maybe this one has what you need?

    Note that since this isn't an official EA guide I won't really be able to help if things go wrong (And it looks like things can go a little wrong with some of these steps), but it seems like the perfect place to start.

    Yep, as @EA_QueenBee has linked, the only way you can move the Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 so the game knows where to find it is by creating a symlink. Furthermore, you will absolutely want to disable iCloud Drive syncing your Documents & Desktop folders too as this can interfere with the symlink AND you will definitely want to check your USB stick is fast enough to read/write the data for the Sims 4 folder https://bluebellflora.com/2023/11/26/choosing-an-external-hard-drive-for-your-game/

    So yes, everything you want to do is possible but you need to do a little research and jiggery-pokery to make it happen 🙂
