    This trackpad issue has now been fixed in today's (16/07/19) patch, 1.53.115.1220:

    Mac:

    • Fixed an issue where camera controls for rotating and zoom levels were behaving inconsistently when using a trackpad.

    You should be able to use the trackpad controls as usual - two finger rotate to spin the camera and pinch to zoom.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Expansion: all except Island Living Game: Strangerville, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Spa Day Stuff: Toddler Stuff, Backyard Stuff, Kids Room Stuff, Holiday Celebration, Grim's Ghoulish Guitar
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Trying to rotate the player view with a laptop trackpad
What happens when the bug occurs? The camera stays still. I can move up, down, left, and right but I can't rotate to see the back of a lot if my camera view is currently at the front
What do you expect to see? The camera rotating to look around a lot or room
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?

This did not happen until the most recent Sims 4 update (the one that included Pride items and clothing). It severely hinders my ability to play and to especially use build mode.

    @hmdavis99 I’m having the same issue with the trackpad (also Mac). I was able to rotate the camera using... I’m not sure what the keys are called, but the arrow keys with a comma and period under them? If that helps in the meantime

      I'm moving this to the mac forum. Seems there's someting going on with this but  @Bluebellflora is much more competent to help with Mac issues.

        Can anyone who's having this issue share with me their Config.log (located in your TS4 folder in Documents) and their Mac System Report? Thanks so much for the help!

    me too, i even deleted and retried my mods and repaired my game, still nothing. i can rotate, but cant zoom. sometimes it switches.

    the mods i have are and MC Command Center and WW. MC Command Center broke as soon as i opened the game, i could not do anything without getting an error. at this time before deleting, rotating would work, but zoom would not. after deleting, it switched, and now i am stuck with zoom not working, but rotating working. i uninstalled WW and had realized the problem continued with no mods installed.

    i have a macbook air (2015) and i am updated to the latest. this issue has started as soon as i updated to the latest sims patch.

      Please could you clarify the exact gestures you are trying which aren't working? I use the arrow keys to rotate, CMD and arrow keys to move the camera around and two finger swipe to zoom in and out. I'd like to try and reproduce your issues.

      Could you also please confirm whether you have changed any of the default Trackpad settings in System Preferences?

      Please can you also provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so and what to provide here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162 although the full system report and config file that SimGuruNick has requested would be preferable 🙂

        I use my two fingers to pinch in and out to zoom the camera in and out

        I use my two fingers to use a rotating motion (like in a circle) to rotate the camera on the mouse pad 

        I have not change any trackpad settings. It was working last night, and as soon as Sims4 updated it stopped working. I don't have any mods, I looked at the troubleshooting for MAC from which none of it was helpful. I tried to repair the game on origin and didn't work. Restarted my computer, didn't work. It all stemmed from this update.

      mine is the opposite, I CAN zoom, but I CANNOT rotate. So annoying.

        I find when you turn on the game whichever movement you do first is the one that will work. So if you rotate it first then the zoom in and out function will not work and vice versa.

    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I used to be able to rotate the camera using two fingers on the touchpad on my MacBook Air.
    What happens when the bug occurs? After the most recent update, the camera will either not rotate at all or not zoom in or out with the touchpad. Most of the time it will not rotate. This has never been an issue before.
    What do you expect to see? The camera rotating and/or zooming in or out with the touchpad. I have tried resetting the NVRAM and repairing the game. Neither seemed to help. It is extremely frustrating trying to control the camera without the touchpad.

    I just installed the Sims 4 patch update and I was wondering if anyone on Apple computer used to be able to use the touchpad to rotate the screen but isn't able to anymore. I now have to use the keyboard which makes it hard to build and not be able to rotate the screen and select an object at the same time. If anyone knows how or why this is happening, please let me know.

      I have the same issue! If Either I can zoom or I can twist. Not both.

      I am having a similar issue. I can zoom in and out but cannot swivel/rotate the camera in live or build mode

    I'm having the same issue since the update ! (I'm sorry it's the first I post on the forum so I don't know if it's the right place to post this)

    Here are my infos :

    - I usally pinch to zoom

    - I didn't changed any default Trackpad settings in System Preferences

    - My mac info:

    • macOS Mojave version 10.14.5
    • Model : MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)
    • Processor : 2 GHz Intel Core i5
    • Memory : 8 Go 1867 MHz LPDDR3
    • Graphics : Intel Iris Graphics 540 1536 Mo

      Why can you not build? This bug is annoying but you can still zoom and rotate just using different commands:

      Zoom - two finger swipe up and down the Trackpad or using the + and - keys

      Rotate - use the < and > keys

    I’m having the exact problem!! It first started with me not being able to rotate the camera, then I restarted the game and I was able to rotate but wasn’t able to zoom in or out, then I restarted again and I wasn’t able to rotate the camera again (but I could zoom in or out).

      I'm having the same issue. Happened immediately after the patch. 

      I use the trackpad for zoom (two finger pinch), and for rotate (two finger twist). When I load up the game, I can do one or the other but never both. 

      • macOS version: 10.14.4
      • Model: MacBook Pro Mid 2015
      • Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
      • Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
      • Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

      Unsure if it's related, but I'm also getting alerts in the game that EA content isn't loading because I don't have access on my account. I'm logged in, and everything is downloaded so no idea what's causing it. It's broken a bunch of community lots that have cash registers.

    I'm having the same problem!! I even tried removing my whole mods folder, and it didnt help anything, and neither did disabling my cc and script mods in the game

    @hmdavis99 Same issue with my Mac since June 18, 2019 update. I have all DLC. No CC or mods. It’s completely unplayable like this.
