Game will not update to Aug/16 patch

My game will not update to the newest August 16th patch. I get the download error message "We're sorry, Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connection, or try again later" but I have great internet and have been trying since the patch was released to update the game.

I play on a Mac with OS X Yosemite if that helps at all.

Origin currently has a known compatibility issue with macOS Yosemite. They are working on a fix, however it may be faster for you to just upgrade it for free to macOS Sierra or macOS High Sierra.

You can do this by pressing the apple button on the top of your screen and go to "about this mac" there should be an update option for the macOS

Same here! So I Un-installed origin then reinstalled and nothing changed then I Un-installed the Sims 4 and tried to Re-install the sims 4 and now I am unable to Re-install

Thank you! I don't actually have enough storage to update, but as soon as I delete some files, I'll give this a try 🙂

If you need storage space quickly, use either an external hard drive or USB thumb drive.
Here is some advice to remember before updating your Mac OS:
1) Save your entire Sims 4 folder to either of the above described devices on a regular basis. This way you have a back up of your saved games if anything happens. Do this often.
2) When updating your game, remember to turn off Automatic Updates. This will allow you time to check back with the creators of your favorite Mods/CC to see if they updated anything to be compatible with the new patch. However, you can still play until the third party content is updated and you can patch.
3) If the game is not starting or has other issues, more than likely it is an outdated Mod or CC causing the issue. Move the entire Sims 4 folder to your Desktop (not just the Mods folder found within) to fully disable your Mods. Do not Delete this folder as this is where your saved games are stored.
4) Start up a new game remember that none of your Mods, CC or saved games will be present. Play for about an hour to insure that no other issues occur.
