loading page stuck

Hello,

I just purchased The Sims 3 for my Mac via Origin. I have installed it and it is up to date however, when I try to open it the screen will stay on the blue screen with the green plumbob.
This is my laptop info:

OS X Yosemite
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

I have tried opening the game through origin, as well as just by clicking on the Sims icon. I just got this game yesterday and was only able to get it to open and play for about 15 minutes (I have NO idea how I got it to finally work). After the 15 mins. the screen froze and I had to force shut down my computer.
