Lost all Sims4 progress following auto update to teen account

Hi - any help would be appreciated.

My daughter had her child account automatically updated to a teen account but Sims 4 loaded without any historical progress. So she followed guidance which involved copying the sims4 folder, deleting the original, restarting the mac and repeating the sims4 folder into ea folder.

However all progress from she started playing the game at Christmas did not return and still remains lost.  All expansion packs are still there and available, she just has lost all history.

The saves folder is empty and she has already emptied the trash can so the old sims4 folder is gone. That said, she copied and pasted it, so all content should still be in the pasted folder.

Any ideas why the problem has happened and how she can get the last 5 months progress back?

Where is the pasted folder? The game and packs are installed in your Applications folder. The user data such as saves should be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

Yes, the pasted folder is the Sims 4 folder within the EA folder

Ok. Please could you click on one of the saves once to select it then go to File > Get Info. Under the General > Where section near the top of the info window please copy and paste the location of the save here. You don't have to include the user account name, just call it XXXX or something else.

@Bluebellflora The saves folder is empty so nothing to click on. The saves are what is missing.....that is what is causing the progress loss

I understand, but you're saying she pasted the folder with the saves in it somewhere? Please follow the same instruction to find the exact location of the saves folder.

@Bluebellflora No she didn't. The folder she pasted didn't have any saves so the original folder must not have had any saves following the update. My guess is that the update from child to teen account has somehow caused the saves to be deleted. Either way, she will just have to forego the last 5 months and start again

Aww ☹️ I'm not sure how the upgrade would have any effect on the Sims 4 folder but I'm going to try and find out. I'll post back if I find anything.

Did she have any other backups of her Mac? Maybe Time Machine or manual backups?

@Bluebellflora Unfortunately not. She knows to now!. After initial disappointment, she has resigned herself to starting again....the blow was tempered by a further 4 expansion packs!!
    Thanks for all your help
