Mods and CC Mess

So I have a problem and i’m getting the feeling that it’s a big mess to fix. I have a mac. I was putting mods into my mods folder, located in the electronic arts folder under sims 4. I haven’t used mods in a long time and just got back to playing the sims. However when I enabled the mods and cc in the game options, old mods appeared when I launched the game again, and none of my new ones that are actually in the mods folder. No cc at all will download into my folder, all says it cannot be opened. when i try to drag it. I’ve tired so many things i’ve read from the internet, reddit, chatgpt, etc. I realized that my mods folder doesn’t have the resource.cpg that’s required. But I took steps to get a new one and it didn’t work. Tried to make a new some 4 folder and get rid of the old one, didn’t work. I don’t know what to do, I haven’t found any other sims 4 or mods folders in my finder to think it’s taking it from another place. I’m not sure if I need to completely uninstall the sims and try to get the files gone and renew it all or what. I don’t know how to safely and properly do that. And I want to keep my household i’m currently playing in my saved world, I guess I could upload to the gallery for later. Please help me, I want to use mods and cc so bad. Thanks in advance.

    You can uninstall and reinstall the game as many times as you like but it won't do anything to the Sims 4 user data folder that contains your Mods, saves and other important files that make the game how you like to play it.

    That will be because your game is loading Mods from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. It doesn't load user data from any other location only what is in that Sims 4 folder.

    They will be in a different Mods folder somewhere and not the one in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods

    Let's do a proper search on your Mac for all your Mods folders. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy/paste this command at the prompt then hit enter/return.

    find ~ -type d -name "*Mods*" 2>/dev/null

    After a while it will return the results. Please copy and paste them here.
