My Sims 3 won't launch :(

I have recently purchased sims 3 pets on my MAC but now when i click play nothing happens. This never happened before but its since i did this origin update that its started playing up.when i click play a box comes up telling me the product code and to type it in when prompted but I'm never prompted to it just doesn't launch. if you know whats wrong with my game please contact me. thank you.
