Re: ❗️ [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 does not launch in macOS Sierra

I recently updated my Macbook Pro to version 10.12.6 and Sims 4 to the latest version, and now every time I go to start the game, on first launch the screen glitched to showing have my desktop, half black screen. It will then go to a black screen as if the game was about to load, and then will stay there. 5-10 mins later the screen will glitch to a red screen and I have to turn off my laptop and start again.

I have tried every troubleshoot that I have found online to the point where I uninstalled and reinstalled as a last result.

If anyone has any suggestions or has dealt with this before, please help a girl out. My Macbook is late 2015 and shouldn't have any issues operating the game. Please someone help me!

    @brookeiic_ I merged your post with existing thread on this.

    Only solution atm is to upgrade to High Sierra from what I understand (not a mac user myself)

    Please read this thread for more info.
  • @crinrict Hi, I have High Sierra but I still have the exact same issue - game crashes upon launching etc.
    Are there any other solutions out there?

    @alienagnehm

    Is the game crashing the entire Computer?

    You don't need the Legacy edition.

    Make a backup of your "Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4" folder.

    De-install the Legecy Edition.

    Download and install the normal Edition.

  • @holger1405Hi, thanks for your reply.
    No, it doesn't crash the entire computer, but it doesn't load and freezes so I have to force quit it.

    The thing is that the exact same problem already occurred with the normal edition. I only installed the legacy edition hoping that it would save my problem, but it didn't.

    @alienagnehm  The standard version of Sims 4 has had some issues in High Sierra, although more slow loading than freezing.  Updating to Mojave usually helps.  It might also help to try a clean game folder, as in, move the existing Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, then launch the game to spawn a new one.  But please do this in the standard version, not the Legacy Edition—as @holger1405 said, you don't need the LE and won't benefit from trying to run it.
