@Gabywis, please describe the exact steps you've taken to change the language (please include any restarts of the Sims 4).
@republic241 Are you saying that your game language is already English and it's still not working correctly? What hardware and macOS version are you using? Do you know if you are/were using the LE version of the game?

@elipetskaya What happens if you select any of those other languages? doesnt work if you change to other languages other than english
that don't work

I have the same problem.
this happened after an update was downloaded. yesterday I played and it was fine. i have mac.
just installed it to polish, didnt help, still same error
Have the same issue. Worked fine yesterday, as of now i cant launch the game tho with the same errormessage mentioned above. Changed language settings to english, using the 'application settings' but it still refuses to launch 😢 I run the game on macOS Catalina 10.15.1.
I also noted, however it might be unrelated, that the 'launch'-button, that is usually available when i click on the sims in 'my game library', now says 'finalizing,' without the possibility of clicking it.
- @MaxisJoe In origin, after doing the update, right click on the game within the origin library, then game settings and then change the language. A verification/upload happened, went to 100% then ready to play. Tried to open the game and this was the message
"Unable to start:

@MaxisJoesame issue!
Worked all fine yesterday
I can't choose any language. my only option is English
I have Mac Mojave 10.14 and a deluxe edition of sims 4Have the same problem. Changing languages, repairing and reinstalling the game and the Origin client didn't help. It worked perfectly before the update today. I'm using macOS Catalina 10.15.4.
- @MaxisJoe Did not work for me

Hey everyone, I'm really sorry this is hitting you, and right when you need a game the most! We're digging into this to really try to see what went wrong. I'll update here as soon as I have more information.
All of you that have tried clicking around on different languages, etc - thanks for trying different things! It's a big help. One thing that would still be useful to know is whether you're launching the game from the Origin client or are double-clicking it from Finder. Did the Origin client return from "finaling" before you double-clicked in Finder? - @MaxisJoe from origin
- @MaxisJoe from origin aswell
- @MaxisJoe from Origin
I tried to launch from the Origin client and from the icon in Finder - doesn't work both ways, same error.

@kokoniasta Can you share with me what language you're trying to use (I apologize if you've already told me - there's a bunch of data in flight right now) and share with me the contents of /User/<user>/Library/Application Support/Origin/Installer Data/1011164.plist
Thanks! I don't know if it helps but I've been having the same problem as well. I play the game in French, and I tried to do the language switch to English, no improvement. I then switched back to French, and it still didn't work.
When looking in my Electronic Arts folder in the finder, I see the usual 'Les Sims 4' folder, for the French version which I typically use. However, when I try to launch the game, a new folder creates itself, called 'The Sims 4' even though I switched the game back to French.
