It's either corrupted user data in the Sims 4 folder or a corrupted game installation. See the solution in the opening post for further help and instructions.

Hi Bluebellflora I did the troubleshooting by creating a new Sims 4 file. A new game works perfectly fine so then I tried adding my save to it and it's the same issue! So I understand the issue is with the save? I would hate to use because I played for many hours on this one. I'm not sure what I can do next, I would really appreciate your help, thank you!
Liberapsyche Yes, if it's happenign with just one save then it's corrupted in some way. Maybe you can roll back to one of the previous backups for that save? https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/recover-backup-save-game/

Hi Bluebellflora thank you for your help so far :)
Unfortunately all the backups from that save seem to be corrupted as well. Do you think there is any other way to recover it? What could be the reason? It all started after the update... :( Want to send me a save to check in my game? Upload to a file sharing site and PM me the link if so :)

Hi Bluebellflora that would be great, thank you! How do I send you the file? Which website would you recommend that I use?
Google drive or similar would do. Upload the file and then send me the sharing link in a PM.
